The rules
This is the place to ask all your menstrual cup related questions, post any news and developments, and chat about your experiences.
Welcome! Take a look around and make yourself at home. We want people of all ages, genders and confidence levels to feel comfortable here. If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact us.
Because this is a high-traffic community, chances are that your question has already been answered. Please read through the recent posts and check the tags before posting.
We also request that you not post more than twice a week. (Please note that by "post" we mean those that show up on the main page, not comments on individual posts.) We understand that you may have lots of questions at first, but please do take the time to read through previous posts to get the information you need. We also encourage you to ask your follow up questions in comments to people on your original post, rather than applying to the whole community again.
Posts should be on topic and suitable for the community. This is a support and discussion community about menstrual cups. Posts that are offtopic (for example, questions about how to use LJ, or about contraception) or not discussion-orientated (e.g. announcing that your cup just arrived) may be deleted at the discretion of the moderators. Please don't post with comments disabled or screened - this prevents community members from participating.
If you want to buy, sell, swap, advertise, post coupons etc, please make your post in mc_sales, not here. If you post here it will be deleted. For more information, see this post.
Keep posts readable for everyone. Please don't change your font colour or size. Use an LJ cut if your post is extremely wordy or contains photos. Descriptive subject headers for posts are recommended as they facilitate searching through previous posts.
Please use gender neutral language when addressing the community. Not everyone here identifies as female. For more information on this, see this post.
No rudeness, no trolling. This is a fantastic community and we only get problems once in a blue moon, but for the record: namecalling, rudeness, comments posted to purposely start drama or ridicule another poster ARE NOT WELCOME and may result in removal from the community. That includes replying rudely to someone who you think was rude to you themselves. If you notice someone behaving in this way, please don't fan the flames by replying, instead notify the mods.
The above also includes being rude about other menstrual options such as disposable pads and tampons. While we are enthusiastic about our cup use here, there is no need to call other choices gross or irresponsible.
If you want to introduce yourself, please do it here.
Commercial sellers
If you are a commercial seller of any kind, please respect the fact that this is primarily a space for cup users to talk amongst themselves, not a marketing venue. You are welcome to post here to tell us about your new shop or product, and to participate as a community member answering questions and helping out, but you must always be open about who you are and post as yourself. A good way to do that is to make it clear in your livejournal userinfo.
Posts promoting sales, coupons, competitions and so on should be posted to mc_sales, as described above.
In addition, we may ask you to keep the volume down if it seems like commercial posts are starting to overwhelm the community. Please try to keep the volume of posts reasonable - if you'd like some guidance on that you can contact the mods via mc_moderators.

What are menstrual cups?
Menstrual cups are worn internally, holding (instead of absorbing) monthly flow. There are several types of reusable cups available, and they are bell-shaped and worn low in the vagina. The Divacup, the Mooncup, the Lunette, the Miacup, the Femmecup, the Ladycup, and the Keeper Moon Cup are made of medical grade silicone. The original Keeper is made of natural gum rubber (latex). There is also a disposable cup, called the Instead, which is shaped more like a diaphragm and worn higher up. The Ladycup is available in a variety of colours.

Manufacturers and suppliers
With all the new cup brands, it's now impossible to list all this information here. For cup brands see our faq and brand comparisons tags. For suppliers please see where to buy.
