I discovered menstrual cups a few weeks ago and I was immediately intrigued about the concept. I've always used tampons but for a number of reasons, I've been growing increasingly uncomfortable using them.
As soon as I found about about the menstrual cups, I googled it and found this community. I spent a few hours reading and after that I was convinced I had to try one for myself! I was a little scared at first with all the trouble some women are having, but the Mooncup UK seemed to have fantastic reviews so I went ahead and ordered one, the smaller size since I am 23 and have no children.
I got it a couple days ago and couldn't wait to try it. Today I finally got my period. I took my Mooncup to the bathroom, braced myself and inserted it for first time using the punch-down fold. It unfolded beautifully in the right spot! I couldn't even feel it and I wouldn't have known it was there if I couldn't feel it with my fingers. The little tube at the end was definitely uncomfortable, though. I took it out (very easily following the advice I've found on this community), washed it, and cut off the tube.
It went right in and it was perfect. I noticed that washing it with warm water before inserting it made it easier than the first time. After this, I went shopping with my husband for several hours and completely forgot about my period until I got home. I went to check if there had been any leaking - nothing!.
I love my Mooncup and I only wish I had discovered it before. I will be sure to tell my friends about what a great product they are and direct them to this community so they can read all the great advice and information posted in these pages.
This site helped me so much! Thank you!
