Residual soap smell after boiling - safe to use?

A couple of questions...

1: I was stupid enough to leave my divacup in for longer than 12 hours last cycle, and as such, it smells to high heaven whenever full/wet. I should've boiled it, but I didn't get around to it in time. I got so sick of nearly gagging at the smell when I got too close to it when removing, I filled with organic shampoo when I was in the shower. I boiled it AFTER this, so I figure I'm safe from the soap residue.... but it still smells somewhat like the shampoo. Is it alright to use? (For the record, it was burt's bees shampoo. I figure it can't be too bad. )

2: This one is pointless, just curiosity - does anyone else remove their cup primarily with their thumb? I've never heard of anyone else doing so, and I think it may attest to the tiny porportions of my lady parts.
