Soreness after Instead, same in Divacup?

I'm curious if any of you have been in the exact same situation and can offer feedback.

I used Insteads in high school but did so only a few times. They went in fine, felt fine, and I could get a hold of them to pull them out but as soon as I started to dig around in there, I started to get sore, because to hook my finger under the rim I had to reach pretty far. Pulling the Instead out left me feeling like someone had reached a fist up there and punched me in the cooter! Or like I'd just scrubbed myself with steel wool.

I also tend to get sore when anything like a finger or penis or whatever else I can get a hold of goes in there for more than about ten minutes, lube included (no lube = it ain't goin' in).

My question is, are any of the current reusable cups more gentle? I think it may have had to do with the rim of the Insteads back then being fairly firm and large, but I'm not sure. Has anyone had this problem with another method but found one which doesn't hurt?
