How to ask my mom? EDIT: I asked her and...

Hi.  I've been researching menstrual cups for a week or so and they seem great.  I'm only 14 years old, and it would be a luxury to not have play the whole hide the tampon while trying to get to the bathroom charade.  The last thing I want to worry about is my period while at school.  Plus, I'm totally for saving the environment, and I think this would be a great opportunity to do so.  Since I'm kind of young and I've never had sex, or of course given birth... I'm leaning towards the smallest Lunette size since it is aimed at women under 20.  However, I'm not on great terms with my mom, and I'm afraid she's going to straight out laugh at me and tell me no when if I tell her I want to order and use a menstrual cup.  Anyone have any ideas how I could talk to her about it?  Alternatively, if anyone knows how I could somehow order a Lunette without my parents knowing... that would be great to (but unrealistic D:).  On second though I suppose I would have to tell her eventually to tell her I don't need tampons anymore.  Ugh, it'll just be so weird.  Please help!

EDIT: Okay, so I asked my mom.  It didn't go very well at all.  When I brought it up she had never even heard of it (despite working in a hospital as a radiologist specializing in mammography) and seemed rather horrified at the thought of it.  She was also shocked to hear that it wasn't disposable, and went on to tell me how unsafe it sounded.  I told her how it's actually healthier, more convenient, costs less, and is better for our planet.  She said that tampons aren't bad for the planet because they're made of paper.  I really think she missed the whole point.  When she asked how I heard about it, I said, "The internet... like Wikipedia."  That definitely didn't help at all either. :(  There is, however, a small glimmer of hope.  She said that I have to ask my doctor, and that is wasn't up to her.  So, lucky for me I have a physical coming up in the next month or two.  So if my doctor comes through for me and assures my mom that it is actually better than tampons, I bet I'll be able to get one.  Do you think it would be okay for me to just bring it up during a physical?  Do you think a regular doctor would know about that kind of stuff (I haven't gone in for a physical for a long long time, but I'm almost positive my doctor is female)?  Otherwise, my mom is totally unconvinced.
