Removing the Divacup - Ouch x 1000! Can someone help pls?

As a follow up to my previous post, I tried removing the Diva cup last night (note, i'm a first time user). I don't think any amount of reading instructions, pinching the base, squeezing air out, moving it from side to side prepared me for the pain! there has got to be an easier way to do this! I have a pretty high pain threshold, but this was bad! :(

I could get the cup out till about mid-way, and then the suction just felt so strong, it refused to come out. I have no idea how I finally got it out, but I was drenched in sweat, almost in tears and very much in pain by the end of it. It felt absolutely massive and I was so afraid I wouldn't be able to get it out again. Almost deciding not to use it again.

However, i have read all of your glowing reviews, so maybe there's something I'm doing wrong. Could you post an extremely simple step by step removal procedure, throw in diagrams if you want.

The cups have a lot of advantages, but if it costs me this much time for insertion/removal, and especially this much pain, then I'd much rather (reluctantly) stick with tampons. If I'm in a public washroom, there's no way that I'll be able to lie down any place to make removal more comfortable! Please help me!
