Hi all, I have been reading this community a lot recently, and it's been very informative!

I received my Divacup (size 1) in the mail a few days ago. Here's what happened so far... I did a couple of dry runs and had great difficulty at first with insertion, but finally had success with the punch-down method and have been using it since then.

Yesterday I was able to start using the cup for real. Insertion has been getting easier every time. Removal is still a bit difficult because if I don't fold it, it is wide and hurts to tug out, but whenever I try to fold it after breaking the seal, it instantly hurts and I must stop. I break the seal by running my index finger up behind the cup, since that seems like the only angle at which I can reach up that far. So maybe it's the direction in which I am folding it that is hurting so much? So far my best success is to just yank the thing out as quickly as possible after breaking the seal without folding it at all... but I don't like that very much. So if you have any suggestions on how to improve my technique I would greatly appreciate it.

My other question is about overnight use. During the day the cup worked perfectly and did not leak at all. Overnight, it didn't leak, but I did wake up after 5 hours feeling kind of weird, like when a tampon has reached capacity and there's just too much trapped in there. I got up and went to the bathroom to check on it and pee. I noticed it seemed to be leaking then, so I thought it must be full. But when I removed it, it was only about 3/4 full. Of course then I got blood everywhere, and to make matters worse, I accidentally dropped the cup into the toilet! DOH!

But my question is, does lying down cause it to leak when you get up and all of the blood is going into the cup all at once? Does that cause it to leak like it would if the cup were completely full? Or did I just lose my seal at some point?

Overall, except for the uncomfortable removal process and my little mishap, I like that my bed was never in danger of being bled on, like with a pad. On my worst nights with a pad, half the time I end up waking up early because it's used up, so if I wake up early half the time with the cup I guess that's not any worse.
