I asked this question of the "call center" for the Essure Procedure. "I use a Diva Menstrual cup instead of pads or tampons. Occasionally I use Instead brand menstrual cups. I had the Essure procedure done last week and was wondering if using a cup had any effect on the implants? They do create a slight suction on the cervix/vagina during removal. Should I wait a few months before returning to my cup?"
Here is the information I found out about the Diva Menstrual cup and Essure:
Although we have not studied this particular circumstance, we can confidently say that the Essure micro-insert was designed to provide robust "anchoring" within the Fallopian tube immediately after placement. It seems very unlikely that the vacuum created by releasing the cervical seal of a Diva Cup would disturb the micro-inserts in any way. You should not have to wait in order to begin using the Diva Menstrual Cup after Essure placement.
We have never received any complaints or other feedback indicating problems with the use of menstrual cups and Essure.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
