I couldn’t find a better way to describe what is going on, so sorry.

I’m 23, a virgin and I’m trying a cup for the first time. I bought an Athena cup size small and a Pixie cup size small.

I’ve had issues with inserting for almost my entire cycle. I tried different positions, different folds and lube. I can usually get half of the Athena cup in before I start feeling pain and can’t push it in more without it hurting.

After getting extremely lubed up, I’ve managed to get it in once, but it went so far up I could barely feel the stem, let alone check if it had opened. I didn’t feel anything when I walked around, which is what they say it’s supposed to feel like, but I couldn’t tell if it was open.

I tried taking it out, but I had to push really hard and catch the cup in time, because as soon as I stopped pushing, my vagina would swallow it back up.

So my question is, did I get a cup that’s too small? I’ll be honest, I did put my finger in to measure my cervix, but I couldn’t figure out if I was able to touch it or not.

Please, I really need help!! I don’t want to give up on using the cup, I’m so over using pads and tampons and always worrying I’m leaking.

Your cup might be too small. Do you break the seal before pulling it out?

No, I pinched the base of the cup just in case it had sealed, but it felt like it was still folded. I had very little issue taking it out, other than having to push as hard as possible so I could get a grip on it.
