A couple of years ago I bought my first cup to try. Mostly for swimming since my parents got a new pool. I’ve always been a pad user since my first mensuration basically due to my mom being unable to use tampons. Plus TSS is scary right?!

Anyway, I bought a LENA cup after watching countless review videos and what’s what and how to choose (soft, stiff, short) looking at the chart for seemed like an hour lol.

I am almost 40, I’ve had 6 vaginal births. So it seemed like this was a good choice. Well a couple days after using it, I got horrible (and I mean almost faint worthy) pain. Going back to using a heating pad and sleeping which I haven’t done since before having kids. And at first I didn’t tie it to the cup until 2 cycles later when I realized that was the only thing different.

So I figured maybe the cup was not soft enough for me. I have a narrow canal (even after 6!) and a very high cervix (like I’ve never touched it high...either that or it’s posterior). So next I bought the Lily. It’s definitely softer. But same issue. Pain a couple of days after using it. Around day 3-4 into a 7 day cycle. I have 1-2 heavy days, then light for a day or two, then spotting the rest. So I only use them that first couple days.

I’ve given up trying them bc I can’t keep buying and them be the cause of my paid. But I’ve now had two episodes even though it’s been months since I’ve used one. Not near as bad as with but still that pain where it’s all you can think about.

So are these cramps caused by the cup (suction, too firm?) or something else I should probably see my GYN about? If it continues if course I’ll be going in. But it’s not regular, not every cycle (or even every other)

Any advice or knowledge would be much appreciated. I’ve now gone back to disposables even though for years I used cloth. Work plus washing and carrying them hasn’t been a good fit.

I have had horrible cramps from my cup when it's not in right. If it's pressing against my cervix instead of sitting around it ()0 vs (0) then the pain is pretty immediate. If you're not noticing leaking I'd guess that it could be something with the way the cup is sitting around your cervix, maybe at that 3-4 day mark your cervix is higher/lower/doing something where the cup is touching it in a way that causes pain?
