Using my menstrual cup for the first time

So, I start school again tomorrow on the 3rd day of my period. I used my Lunette model one cup for about 5 hours at a time yesterday with no problem. But today I've had to empty it like every two hours! Is this normal? I also have the Lena cup small and used that overnight last night with a night pad just in case and it was a good thing I did. Is it maybe something to do with the angle I'm putting it in or should I just use the cup with the bigger capacity?
