Hello community! I'm a virgin who has normal flow and a REALLY low cervix ( about the height of my fingernail length on my index finger ). I was thinking about getting a small lunette, small meluna, small or medium shorty meluna. But, I'm not old enough to buy things off the internet and my mom doesn't really want me to use a menstrual cup ( you getting where I'm going? ) so, I want to buy one myself except I live in Canada where you can only buy the Diva cup. I have done a lot of research for the past few weeks and I know that the Diva Cup will not fit me but I want to at least get a feel for it. Anyways, do you think a menstrual cup will fit me? How should I eventually get one of the other cups listed above? I was actually thinking about a pre paid card but... Probably won't happen. Btw, do you guys have any tips for very low cervixes and menstrual cups? I just want to say that this community has been really helpful! Thanks!

I don't think that's your cervix.

I agree. Going by the other info you've given us, there's no way your cervix could be that low. Most are at least half a finger length in. You may want to check again - your cervix is a roundish thing that'll probably feel a bit like the end of your nose.

I'm not the OP but I beg to differ. My cervix moves up and down but when it is low, it is half an inch inside my vagina. I can see it when I crouch over a mirror (OP, you can confirm whether you're feeling your cervix or not using a mirror. If it is indeed that low, you will be able to see it).

Now, I will also say that my doctor, when giving me my pap, said I have the smallest vaginal vault she has ever seen ...which explains why sex has always hurt me! But luckily my cervix is at the top of my vagina and my vagina extends back a bit further beyond my cervix. So I acknowledge I am on the small end of the scale and it is rarer to be more like me than unlike me. I've also had 2 kids, in case that makes a difference in cervical height.

I use the MeLuna shorty, in a wide. I order directly off the European site, because it has all the choices. The American site had half the choices and cost more, even when considering international shipping from Europe on the other site. I don't know about shipping to Canada from Europe, though.

Your cervix should be past your pubic bone, I believe.

You may be feeling the opening of your urethra and/or the urethral sponge. If your cervix was that low then no menstrual cup or tampon would work as they sit past the opening to the vagina.

A great book with very detailed drawings and diagrams is A New View of a Woman's Body which may be available at a local library. Also I found a very graphic website with anatomy pictures and drawings/diagrams: http://www.womenshealthinwomenshands.org/Anatomy.htm

It's possible you have a very high cervix and unable to find it at all! Try squatting down and feeling toward the top & front of your vagina, toward your belly button. It's a rather soft thing that moves around, so might be tricky to find. Good luck- It's super cool to learn about your body!

Also, there is a lot of info out there about the dangers of tampons. Maybe finding some good articles or statistics about Toxic Shock Syndrome and how it is not linked to menstrual cups, how cups are reusable & will not harm you, would help to sway your mom. Is she worried about the safety of using a cup? Or maybe a moral dilemma about virginity? You've got to respect her, it's her house, but, depending on your relationship & such, it might be worth opening the conversation about alternative menstrual products. They are so great & I wish I had discovered them before I was 20!

Maybe you could find one at http://mc-sales.livejournal.com/
I actually have a small clear Lunette, stem intact, in a green bag, that I haven't used in a year. I used it a few times, but I found something I like better. I've been thinking about destashing it. Let me know if you're interested.

It is my cervix, sensitive to touch, feels like a fleshy nub ( like my lips ), and I haven't tried looking at it though. I can also reach behind it but only to my second knuckle when I feel like I can't move any higher but it's not poking anything either. So how is the Meluna shorty? I find it's nice but kinda too small capacity-wise... Anyways, to the next poster, my mom doesn't really know more than pads ( which she has used her whole life ) and when she tried to use a tampon, it was painful and didn't fit ( probably low cervix ). Do you guys think I'll be able to use a cup if my cervix is this low? I don't think I'll be buying yet. Thanks!

Maybe a Meluna shorty could work. Track your cervix through your cycle and see what it does.

I have been using sea sponge tampons instead of cups recently because my cervix drops low and cups become uncomfortable after a day or two of wearing them. I really like the sponges. I bought them at a art supply store in the water color section. I did a lot of research and looked at lots of pictures of sponges because there are many different kinds and I wanted to be sure to get the right kind. They also smelled like the store, so I had to wash them a few times, air dry, and sit in the sun for a few days, but then they were great.

http://partypantspads.com/ will send you a free 'sample' cloth pad if you just pay the shipping. They are very absorbent and super thin.

I've never tried sponges but these sound like they'd be the perfect answer to the OP's dilemma--she could claim to be using them for exfoliating, art projects, whatever, since they're not obviously a menstrual product (sort of like coconut oil as lube, which I swear by...no questions about why there is lube in your shower...) and they'd be widely available at craft shops.

Ok! Thanks guys! I don't really want sponges and the smallest and lowest capacity cup made but they are way better than pads ( and I can't use tampons... Duh )! Do you guys think a small Meluna will fit or maybe a small lunette? They seem like nice, good quality cups. What do you think?

The Lunette may still be too big/long even with the stem cut off, and it has a bit of a funky shape, so Meluna Shorty would probably be your best bet.

Hm. Ok well I guess I will have to cope with the low capacity and maybe even take the extra step to sea sponge tampons ( I'll look into it ). I have to hope that the Meluna shorty will work. Thanks all!
