Ok, my head is spinning from sorting through all of the information on this site and I need help! First time cup buyer here trying to figure out which one to purchase. Over 30, 3 vaginal births, medium to heavy flows, dangly, low cervix. At least I think that’s correct. I can always touch my cervix even at its highest and at its lowest its approximately somewhere around 1 to 1.25 inches in. I can feel up and around the sides of my cervix (esp since having kids) although I’m having troubles determining that length – definitely feels like cervix is on the end of a protrusion – not that the cervix is flush with anything. My flow varies dramatically but when going at strongest can soak through ultra OB tampons (the purple ones no longer sold) that supposedly hold 15-18 grams in an hour or so.

Reading through this site, it appears that if I’ve correctly identified my physical attributes (no small task!), then it looks like I want something with a bell shaped bottom that can accommodate a large flow since more than likely my cervix will dangle into it, displacing some of its volume, but one that can also work with a low cervix. Am I on the right track so far?

If so, then is seems as though the Large Fleurcup, Large SuperJennie and Large LuvUrBody are recommended for their capacity, but I’m not sure how well they work with low cervix? Alternatively, there’s the Femmycycle low cervix model, but I’m a little wary of it because it seems as though the cervix is to rest in the center hole, but my cervix doesn’t always feel as though it is centered in my vagina depending upon if I’m sitting, standing, bending, etc (although perhaps I’m just crazy), so it seems as though trying to keep it centered might be uncomfortable?

Does this sound correct so far? Are there other models you all would recommend?

Thanks so much for any help – I’m so lost as to which one to try it’s pathetic!

Edited because I changed my mind:

The Luv Ur Body is probably too long for you, but the large Fleur or the SuperJennie would probably be a good match. Trust your instincts and get whichever of those two calls to you more.

There are good comparison photos of the Super Jennie and the Fleur (and the large Lunette) at http://menstrual-cups.livejournal.com/3473209.html

If you haven't already, skim/read http://kuradi8.livejournal.com/ to head off some common questions and problems.

I also have a low cervix (no kids though) and I've heard great things about the Super Jennie, even for low-cervix folks. It's not QUITE as bell-shaped as other cups out there, but it is a relatively wide/short cup, and I hear its stem is super comfortable (even if you have a low cervix).

I'm actually thinking about picking up a Super Jennie for myself. :)

I love my SJ large. I bought the ultra tampons online for years after I couldn't get them in stores, so I know where you're coming from. The SJ gets me about 3-4 hours during my heaviest days. I do need to wear a pad over 2 nights because I don't get the full capacity due to a dangling cervix (and with 2 young kids, sleep is too precious to wake up more than I have to!) but I figure 2 pads a cycle isn't bad. My cervix isn't very low in general, but the SJ works well on my low-cervix days.

I have the large fleur - I also have low dangly cervix and medium/heavy flow with gushing and clotting. I can get away emptying 3 times per day. I can't fill it to capacity because of my cervix taking up space. Anyway I also tried the large luv ur body and was able to accommodate it (just) but despite it having higher capacity it didn't hold as much as my fleur because the longer length meant that more of my cervix was in the cup. Does that make sense? I'm I the uk and waiting/hoping for super Jennie to be available here to try it as I do sometimes have minor leakage issues when I exercise.

Thank you for the info and one more question!
Thank you all for the helpful comments! It's so nice to know that there are people out there willing to help lost souls like myself! (And newconvert I completely agree with the sleep and kids - I'm in the same boat!) So it sounds like the Super Jennie or the Large Fleur (or splurge and get both) are the way to go.

Looking into costs, though, I realized I had an additional question. Do you all use the same cup throughout your entire cycle, or do you use different ones depending upon whether you're on a heavy flow or light flow day and just figure that you don't have to empty it as often? I noticed on the fleurcup.com site that it only costs 5 euros more to buy a second cup, so both a large and small fleurcup with shipping to the US costs about the same as one Super Jennie. Is there any reason that I would want/need to use a small size too (assuming of course that the large size fit)?

(As a sidenote, eyaf_lem, I noticed on the Super Jennie page that they state that they now have international shipping. I'm not sure how much it is, but it looks like it is an option!)
Thanks once again for all of your help!

RE: Thank you for the info and one more question!
I use the large SJ all the time and enjoy the promised 12 hours of freedom on my light days. :) I did buy a backup SJ (when they were cheaper) because, having switched to cups, I never want to be caught without one!

Re: Thank you for the info and one more question!
Don't get both yet. Just get ONE of them and see how it works out. (Either probably will.) Then decide whether you want another. For example, if you're happy with the one you get, then maybe you'd like a completely differently sized/shaped cup for light days as your second cup.

Re: Thank you for the info and one more question!
Thanks once again for the help! Now I'm just trying to decide whether to go for the Fleurcup or the SJ. The extra 12 ml (EDIT 7 ml - don't know where my brain was!)the SJ holds is definitely a compelling argument, although I do wish I had seen the SJ when they were being sold for a lower price. The Fleurcup is almost half the price of the SJ, including international shipping, which just seems kind of crazy. Oh well, maybe I'll flip a coin. Thanks again and if I run into more problems I'm sure that you all will be hearing from me again!
