It's my third day using a divacup, and it seems like I'm forced to just hope that it actually pops open. It's been pretty hit or miss. My first day was really good, no leaking or discomfort, but on my second day I leaked really bad. I'm pretty sure it wasn't because of leaving it in too long, because my periods are pretty light, especially after my first day. I've tried everything I could find to make sure it popped open. I tried turning it 360 degrees, but I don't understand how anyone can actually accomplish that, once my divacup is in, it is in and definitely does not want to turn even one degree. I tried getting my finger inside and pushing on my walls, but even that didn't work. I tried doing squats after putting it in, hoping for it to pop, but that didn't help either. Does anyone else have any advice for making sure your cup pops? Because I'm really struggling. Oh and if it helps, I use the "punch-down" fold.

Read this http://kuradi8.livejournal.com/ and enlarge the anti-suction holes. :o)

May be because of low cervix
May be your cervix is coming low once you period becomes light and the cup won't room to open and stay in. Did you check cervix?

It might also be worth to try a different fold. I used to use punch down, during my learning curve and depending on the cup, it would work or not. But after a while I started using a 7 fold and find that it does the trick. Good luck and hope you find a solution :-)

Yes, this makes sense.
Try different folds, and also try turning the folded cup in different ways, so the folded side faces the other way, and see if that makes a difference.

The best thing I've found to make sure the punch down fold pops is to reach up and run a finger around the rim feeling to see if it's opened. If it isn't open move your finger down to just below the fold, then press gently on the cup (you might have to press on the opoosite side from the fold sometmes) the pressure should unstick the fold causing it to pop open. The cup will probably be dented but this doesn't really affect the function of the cup.
