I inserted the Diva Cup on the 17th around 11:30 pm. I woke up in the morning and tried to remove it but discovered it went further into my vaginal canal than its ever been. I've been trying for almost 2 days to remove it and nothing is working. I've tried 1 finger, 2, even 3, which really hurt. I am still a virgin so I'm not used to something being inside of me like that. I know for sure that it's overflowing bc it's leaking. I can't seem to get ahold of the stem. My finger can go past the base and reach the actual cup but I can't release the suction to save my life. Is there any way to remove it without damaging myself and the cup?

I have never had this problem so im not sure i can be of any help but Bree from precious starts has a video called "tips for removing your menstrual cup". She talks about what to do if its stuck. I hope this helps. So sorry your going thru this.

Are you squatting and bearing down? That could hopefully move the cup far enough down for you. You could also try just sticking your longest finger up there and pushing against the side to release the seal while in that position.

Above all though, make sure you're relaxing and not rushing the removal!

Try squatting in the tub/shower so you don't worry about making a mess or dropping it. Bear down. The idea is to get get air into/above the cup. It's easiest to create an air channel on the soft back side of your vag. Keep your jaw slack and don't forget to breathe. Reach in as deep as you can with one finger and squish the side as if you're folding it into a C fold. Slide it out. If that doesn't work, then try using a spoon to break the seal and create the air channel. Then use your finger(s) to work it down little by little.

Most of all, and we can't repeat this enough, is to relax and TAKE YOUR TIME!!! The more you rush, the longer it will take.

Once it's out, enlarge the anti-suction holes around the rim. They help with popping open and with removal.

feel like the others have said it all, but most important (AND I MADE THIS MISTAKE MY FIRST CYCLE) don't grab by the stem, grab at the base. i kept pullin on the stem and it gave me a water blister on my thumb and only re-affirmed that my suction was good. I realized then that I needed to cut the stem off (feels better for me also) but that I swell some in the morning, so I dont try to take mine out until after I'm awake for a bit. and def relax, i got so bent out of shape i think it just shot up further. deep breathes! good luck!

I've tried bearing down, laying on my back, in the tub, I've tried going to sleep, waking up relaxed enough to try and get it out but nothing is working. If I can't remove it by tomorrow, I'll schedule an appointment with an OB/GYN.

Try what kuradi8 suggested and use a spoon. If you prefer, use the handle end since it's smaller. Just something to give you more length to push against the side of the cup!

I never heard of this problem before. I wish I could say something to help. Maybe a medium Luv Ur Body would be a better cup for you, if you still decide to use a cup after this. I'm pretty sure it is the longest cup available. I would hope that wouldn't get stuck. Let us know what happens if you want to!

I tried the bath method again and it worked. After about 25 minutes of "giving birth" to the cup, I finally got the damn thing out. I don't want to give up on MC's. I'll try the Diva Cup a few more times before I give up completely and move onto another cup. My biggest problem is that I can't rotate the cup properly, which is why I think it went further than it should have. I don't want my $40 to have went to waste. Any suggestion on rotating?

You don't really need to rotate the cup. It's just one way of making sure that it's fully open and sealed, which if it's working and you're having trouble getting it out is probably not the issue.
I'm not completely sure this will help since I have nearly the opposite problem (the cup being too long), but try enlarging the air holes using a piercing tool or any firm, sharp point. The Diva Cup is know for it's tiny air holes creating super suction which might make it hard to get out. You can also try working those birthing muscles with kegels to make pushing it out easier. Good luck and keep trying!

Second enlarging the airholes. When I tried the Diva (which was too long for me) I had crazy suction!

I'm glad you were able to get the cup out.

The cup can't "go up farther than it should." It goes up as high as it can/wants to. There isn't any way to keep it from doing that. As others have said, enlarge the holes. If you can pinch the base then rock it side to side as you tug down a little to try to release the seal. If you decide to get another cup you can always sell the Diva on mc_sales to try and recover some of your money.

The best way to enlarge the holes that I've found is to buy a 2mm hole punch. They're sold for craft use, on eBay or Amazon for instance, and they're very cheap. I have to do this with my cups as they're Melunas, and Meluna make the holes too small.
