Hello,

I've posted this to reddit but not many people were able to answer me.

I'm thinking about buying Lunette cup and I've been watching videos about insertion in advance. Are you supposed to put two fingers in, while inserting? I'm really confused because I'm definitely not able to do that by myself. Is there a way how to insert it just with 1 finger in vagina, eg. like tampon? Are there any good videos about it?

Also, do I need to stick two fingers in for removing?

Basically, can I use menstual cup just with one finger?

Thank you.

You don't actually have to stick two fingers into your vagina to insert or remove the cup. Basically how the cup works is that you fold it and insert like how you would a tampon by inserting the folded rim into your vagina and slowly pushing it into your vagina until the whole cup or at least most of the cup is inside you. Some prefer to pop the cup when it is partially inside of you, some prefer to let it pop inside wholly, some might insert a finger inside to help ensure the cup pops open.

Removal is basically bearing down as if you need to poop to help the base of the cup become reachable for you to either tug on the stem or pinch the base and gently guide the cup out of your vagina. I personally prefer to bear down and tug on the stem until the base is outside of my vagina before pinching the cup and folding it slightly to ease removal.

Unless you have given birth or have a stretchy vagina, I doubt that fitting two fingers as well as a folded cup would be possible or even feel all that comfortable.

I hope this helps you. I too had the same questions when I first started using cups and removal was definitely an issue for me in the beginning.

well, all vaginas are stretchy. i'm a virgin, and i had to practice inserting two fingers before i could use the cup. i even learned to insert three within one cycle.

my impression is that most do use their fingers, although it's true that this can be avoided if your cervix isn't particularly high or off-center.

inserting my fingers along with the cup causes me no discomfort.

I fold the cup into a combo punchdown/labial fold and insert the cup point first in. I poke the cup up and then use one finger to check for a seal. I think a lot of people don't use two fingers to insert, but then again each body is different.

Not really two fingers, more like your finger and thumb, to get a grip on the bottom. You should practice being able to do that, because if the cup drifts higher that's what you'll have to do to get it out.
