Hi everyone,

I just got a Diva Cup, and after working on it for a while yesterday and today, I think I got the hang up inserting it. I noticed though that when I insert it with it just inside of the vagina, it is a bit uncomfortable for me. After walking around and going about my business for about a half hour, it slide up a bit, and I couldn't feel it when moving around anymore. I could still feel it I stuck my finger up there, it was just probably an additional 1/2 inch up further into my vagina. I decided that was fine based on not experiencing anymore discomfort and leakages as well as info from past posts. I waited another few hours before checking it again, and it had gone up either further into my vagina to the point where I could barely reach it. I was able to get it out, but it took about 15 minutes to do so. I know it might be because I'm new to this, but it just makes me nervous I won't be able to get it out. I'm just wondering if this is normal or if I'm doing something wrong?

Thanks to you all as I've learned so much already from your posts!

It's normal. You're not doing anything wrong.

Diva cup is notorious for its small suction release holes and it causes it to find its way up. The suction can be pretty strong and if it bothers you, you can make the holes bigger. This will make it easier for removal as well. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely try it. I tried to give myself another chance at just seeing if I need to get better at methods of getting it out, but once again it was so high and the suction was so strong that it took me another 15 minutes and multiple methods (bearing down, showering, etc.) to get it out. How large do you recommend I make the suction release holes?

I wouldn't go larger than 2mm. I wish I could give you more advice but I have never altered my diva cup, I just stopped using it. I am going to enlarge the holes one day and then try to use it again. So I'm kinda on the same boat as you! ;)

You may need a longer stemed cup, if the Diva is a good shape for you, i hear good things about iCare which is the same shape but longer stem. On my high days i can touch the base on my Sibell but not pinch it, so I poke it pushing to one side and walk it down with the stem. It works great and doesnt give me suction :) not something you can do with a short stem.

Thanks for the suggestion. I started looking at other cups that are longer in length in general. I found the Lily Cup might work better for me, but I hadn't seen anything until the iCare until you mentioned it. It looks like a good option as well.

Skim/Read this http://kuradi8.livejournal.com/ and follow the link in the paragraph about suction. Say this in your best Inigo Montoya voice: "I do not think it means what they think it means."
