Weird non-bloody leaking - thoughts?

Hey all,

Gosh, it's been a while since I last set foot here! I have a bit of a specific question I was hoping someone might be able to answer.

When I use my cup (a small Meluna - can't handle anything else and it's usually big enough anyway), I have to use a liner as well, because I always get some level of leaking/spotting. However, the leaking doesn't look like blood at all, it's just a kind of very light brown colour, but darker than the normal between-periods discharge. Sometimes there's quite a bit of it, as in, a liner full.

Any ideas on what this is and why it happens? Does the blood sitting in the cup kind of separate after a while? Is there something other than the cervix where some sort of vaginal fluids can escape from? Sorry, this is a bit of a weird question, but I figured this is probably the place I'm most likely to get any hints.

Thanks in advance!
