Hey there!
I've been a cup user for 3 years now. Last year i had a baby (c-section after trying natural birth unsuccessfully). Since then, my cups have fit kinda weird. They tend to leak now and I'm not sure what's causing it. I have a large lunette and a large keeper brand moon cup. I wore my moon cup today and kept repositioning it and nothing seemed to work. I just switched to my Lunette to see if this one will fit better for now. I've heard of the "wandering cervix" and I'm not really sure if that is a problem because I've never really checked it. But most often the leak problem is at the beginning of my period during my heaviest flow, towards the end it seems ok. Any suggestions?

Edit: Also, I'm looking for some new cups that are available in the US, because, i too, am looking for my magic perfect cup.

You probably have some pregnancy-related prolapse so your vagina is probably (temporarily?) a little shorter now. That's probably why your cups don't fit right. You probably also have some pregnancy-related weakened pelvic floor muscles so Google and/or ask your Gyno for some exercises to strengthen them back to where they were.

Skim/Read the sections about leakage and pelvic floor strength at http://kuradi8.livejournal.com/

I Kegel all the time and my doctor never mentioned anything about a shortened vagina, even temporarily.  Like i said that was a year ago and vaginal birth was unsuccessful so i didn't think it would have much effect on changing the location or length of my anatomy.

Thank you for your reply!

Are you still breastfeeding? Hormonal changes brought on my pregnancy and breastfeeding can cause the pelvic floor to relax somewhat, so that could also be causing some pelvic floor weakness. Your issues sound really similar to mine, I have been dealing with mild rectocele and cystocele prolapse since the birth of my daughter 15 months ago. I've been seeing a PT to help strengthen by core and pelvic floor and she said I should see further improvement when I stop breastfeeding because my hormones will level out.

I've also heard the xl MeLuna shorty cup is good for those with similar issues so I plan to try that one soon, I'm hoping it'll be my golden cup!

I am still breastfeeding, that's really interesting. I didn't know that would weaken the pelvic floor.
I have truly learned something new!
I'm extremely physically active and i do a lot of lifting and squatting in my job too, i figured that would be enough as well as my daily kegel time to keep things how they should be.
Might be time to get some benwa balls.

Also, a lot of doctors are really bad at recognizing and diagnosing pelvic floor issues in this country unless someone has a pretty severe case of prolapse, so I wouldn't assume that you don't have any pelvic floor weakness necessarily. It's pretty normal in women postpartum, even if they don't have vaginal births, as being pregnant weakens the core, and the core muscles work to support the pelvic floor muscles. Not trying to sound negative, it's just another women's health issue (like the cup) that is rarely discussed and I'm trying to spread the word!

If you have leaks at the beginning of your cycle but fine near the end, it could be your cervix drops down a little at the beginning, mine does that even without children, it wanders. A shorter cup or flipping your cup inside out shortening it for those days will probably be more comfortable and hopefully leak less.

I didn't think of that either!  I'm gonna try that too!

All of you have been very helpful!  Thank you very much!
I checked for my cervix and it is sitting pretty high at the moment. Maybe i just wasn't getting the cup in far enough?
I've been eyeing the XL Meluna shorty for the past week anyways, i might give that one a shot.

Sounds like a plan :) I hope it goes well for you

Turning my Lunette inside out seems to have helped a lot. There was still a tiny leak, more of a residual slobber thing i guess, but it was definitely better.
