Hello, I need some advice please. I would like to cut the no-spill lid off my FemmyCycle... why? Long story. If I cut it off and file the edges smooth, would the raw material be more porous and prone to collecting bacteria? I know that some women have trimmed the stems, some have even filed down the grip rings. I was wondering how safe that is. Thanks.

Thank you all for your feedback!

I cut off the lid and filed down the sharp edges - actually it turned out quite smooth! Not as smooth as the surface though, that's why I'm worried it might not be as safe as before.

But I am happy to say - I love it! It suits me perfectly now, the rim makes it pop open creating just the right amount of vacuum, it stays in place, there is some spotting but no leaking, so it's great for the time being.

Thanks again everyone! xxx

Interesting, keep us posted on how it works out long term! My first thought was that taking the inner rim out would make it more difficult for the top of the FC to open up around your cervix (that was the biggest trick for me when I used it...just trying to open it up around my cervix) since nothing is really pushing it open from the inside. At any rate I liked mine but glossy silicone is very sticky on my skin, and the FC requires some fiddling, so I sold it off and have been using my Si-Bell, which has the same capacity but is easier to deal with outside the shower.
