Hello, I need some advice please. I would like to cut the no-spill lid off my FemmyCycle... why? Long story. If I cut it off and file the edges smooth, would the raw material be more porous and prone to collecting bacteria? I know that some women have trimmed the stems, some have even filed down the grip rings. I was wondering how safe that is. Thanks.

When silicone cures, it cures all the way through, so the insides are just as nonporous as the surface. It's perfectly safe to cut up your cup however you want; it won't change its properties any.

I totally agree. The cup is made of the same stuff throughout. I cut the stem off my cup and then later cut off and filed down the grip rings just because I wanted to. I haven't had any problems.
