I saw that there were a few post quite a while back about activism and such and read those. But there seemed to be little information.

I want to promote Menstrual cups to a greater extent than they are. I already have told most of my family about them and got varying degrees of enthusiasm from you're insane but I'll listen to sounds novel but gross.

I think people need more info about cups. So I was wondering is there anybody (individual or a company) that makes flyers or pamphlets which we can pass out to better educate the public in the hopes they will consider this more eco-friendly and comfortable alternative?

My own mother didn't know about Cups and she's been a nurse for years...many of my other family didn't know either and they work in the medical field. Cups need to be more mainstream and I want to be part of making that happen.

Also is there any organization devoted to spreading information about cups and female body awareness in general? Because if so I would be interested in helping promote the word.

I mentioned it to the nurse at my dr practice last year when I was in for blood pressure check and she had never heard of them either ...

Word of mouth to your friends. Unfortunately, Googling MENSTRUAL CUP will yield more horror stories than positive ones. Or concentrate on a couple of brands rather than the variety that exists. Searching on Amazon or eBay yields a lot of generics and knock-offs rather than name brands.

I've found that my GUY friends are more open to the concept of cups than my gal friends. If they overhear or walk in on a Show-and-Tell, they see cups as a convenient and practical "tool." Girls, however, are more likely to go, "EEEWWW!" I counter that by saying, "Yeah, that was my first reaction too but now I think they're great."

Cups seem to be gaining favor with the hiking/camping crowd. No need to pack in/out disposable products.

Hah, my "friends" will cringe. Only about one of them would be receptive the rest tend to be very, very judgmental. I started making cloth pads around the same time a patient came who spent her time in her hospital room making pads. Suffice to say the comments they said about her were less than complimentary.

I think guerrilla posting is in order. From now on every bulletin board, magazine holder, and other spaces in doctors offices, feminine hygiene aisles will become a place for menstrual enlightenment.

May the revolution spread.

My opinion about pamphlets... too much to read!

Stickers are frowned upon as "graffiti" or "vandalism" so I like business cards. Create and print them yourself on your home computer. Leave one at a time in public rest rooms, etc.

Hmm that's a good idea. Except they won't be business cards they'll be info cards...But that's a great idea. Then I can briefly direct people to this forum, list a few of the most popular menstrual cup brands and give the websites names on the back I'll have an FAQ.

Thanks Kuradi

I used to direct people here but too many posts are about problems rather than successes. Write something on your livejournal profile page instead and direct them there.

Fair point. I remember when I started all the horror stories almost scared me off, luckily I don't stop once I get an idea in my head !

Make a You Tube video and direct people to that. Keep it SHORT. 2-3 minutes MAX! And show the cup, not your talking head. A picture's worth a thousand words... and isn't that the whole point of video?

Heh I know I got into cups because of scuba diving! They're a godsend...

Speaking of which, I really should get around to writing about how my cups rescued a dive trip of mine recently. It totally saved me from having to cancel an international trip of a lifetime and wasting a lot of money.

I saw this link but it's kind of old 2009, I was going to update her PDF but then I saw that she doesn't want that done. So I may just use them for now and make my own eventually

I totally agree! I hope you can spread the word. I may do myself; I've told my mother I'm using one and she was cool about it, but I don't know how many more people would be receptive.

Brand Ambassador
Various companies have brand ambassadors! I am currently one and my job is to spread awareness in various ways!

Re: Brand Ambassador
Brand Ambassadors? How would you become one of those?

Re: Brand Ambassador
I know for Gladrags, you send in a resume. You can ask them as well and they are VERY VERY nice! Also, there are other companies that do it. I just can't recall which other ones do it as well.
