New Cup User

I'm 23, no kids and just got my Lunette size 1. I have been using it for a few days. After putting it in the first time I knew I would need to trim the stem so I trimmed it a little bit at a time, keeping it in for at least a few hours before deciding to trim it more. I feel like the grip rings on the stem are irritating me and I am considering cutting it off completely. I haven't had any trouble removing the cup and the grip rings on the cup itself are really good, so I don't think this will be a problem. Overall, I much prefer it to my cloth pads, and I really liked those. I also prefer it to the Instead Soft Cups, which were messy and difficult to remove. However, I can definitely feel it when it is in. It's not painful or anything, just a bit uncomfortable and kind of annoying.

I am wondering if maybe I need a cup with a smaller diameter. I noticed that the MeLuna Small has a smaller diameter and while I wanted a classic tab type stem when I was looking to buy my first cup, I think I may like a ring stem better because it seems like it would be less irritating.

Is the diameter the cup likely the problem or could it be something else? Is it normal to be able to feel the cup when it is in?
