Hey everyone. You might know me as the 13-year-old with a Divacup. The learning curve has been going pretty badly so far, with the main issue being my Divacup leaking around the sides. I use the punch-down fold and feel around with my finger to check that the shape of the cup is round with no dents, but sure enough, around 30 minutes later, there are smears of blood down the walls of my labia because my Divacup is leaking around the sides, even though some blood is being caught in the cup itself as it should be. What could possibly be going on here?

p.s. my cervix is really high

Try to aim the cup to the direction of your cervix. Often it may be off to either the left or right. If you miss your cervix with the cup you will have some of the blood running off the side of the cup even though the cup is perfectly open.

This. My cervix shifts around day to day and I need to find it each day before insertion.

Exactly! My cervix is acrobatic. If I don't locate it before inserting the cup, I can easily miss (position cup next to it) and leak.

Have you added holes? Sometimes my flow comes out so fast the air that gets displaced goes over the side and takes some blood with it. It doesnt do it when the cup is a right fit up by the cervix with good holes imo.

If you haven't already, skim read http://kuradi8.livejournal.com/ There is a section about leakage.

Sounds like your cervix might indeed be off to one side. Mine is on the left--I figured this out because my cup stems reliably (when they're long enough) poke into the right side of my vaginal wall, so the top is pointing left when it has settled around my cervix. I too have a high cervix so when you have a high one it's not always obvious if it's off to one side! :)

This happened to me! I am currently on my 4th month using the Yuuki menstrual cup and it would always leak :(
I really really wanted this to work and went out and bought a Diva Cup because I thought it might work better. At the same time I noticed that my cervix was positioned very far to the right so placed the Diva at an angle and have since had ZERO leaks! Great!

...But now I am unsure if this is because I am more suited to the Diva Cup or if I just wasn't putting the Yuuki at the correct angle for my body. So I recommend first trying to find your cervix (should feel like a harder bump somewhere around the end of your vagina - kind of like the end of your nose!).

Initially I had thought mine was very high because I couldn't feel it when I poked my finger straight up, but I finally found one day hiding to the right! :P If it is to an odd angle then try positioning the opening of the cup that direction. If that doesn't work, then maybe it is just the cup not working for you. When you find the right one and it doesn't leak, it is AWESOME! Don't give up :) I am never going back to pads and tampons! Good luck!
