I now have my first cup! I am 15 years old, a virgin (duh), and I have the Lunette 1. One problem I have is that I can't fit the cup into the opening. My opening is so small and only the rim could fit in there. Maybe because I'm too tense? How can the opening be bigger?
My other question is how can I insert the cup through such a tiny hole? I tried the diamond, origami, and the c (c is too big) fold, but I wasn't successful. Sometimes it hurts when I slowly push it. Maybe it's the way I insert it? How do you guys insert it? What general direction do you insert your cup? Also I can hardly hold the cup because it would unfurl from the fold right when I insert the tip of the cup. ._. Any advice?
In short, what's the tiniest, thinnest fold? In what direction do you insert it? How do you fit a lunette through such a tiny opening? Thank you! :)

Here's a Virgin's Guide to Cups: http://menstrual-cups.livejournal.com/1243131.html
And a basic FAQ by kuradi8: http://kuradi8.livejournal.com

Also, if you have coconut oil at home, you might want to put a little on yourself (not the cup) to help with insertion.
Good luck! Take it slow and remember to breathe.

Try to squat when inserting it, makes your muscles relax and it generally makes it easier.

I use the punch down fold, facing downwards so when the rim and a bit of the cup is in it will open better because we're softer towards the back end.

I put water on the cup as my lubricant, but if that doesnt work then coconut oil comes highly recommended. Keep a good hold on that puppy and insert a third or more.

Aim towards your tailbone if you're in a sat down legs open position. Like 45 degrees towards your back. It is not straight up- which to me felt wierd at first.

The above post tells you how you can stretch yourself out abit to make it easier. If at first you dont succeed try, try and try again. You can always save it for later so no money wasted :) Relaxing helps. Go to your happy place :D

Here's a nice guide to additional folds by a 14-year-old using a Lunette:

I also agree that coconut oil is a HUGE help! I basically can't insert cups without it, particularly if they have a glossy surface, which for some reason just completely sticks to my skin.

You may also want to "stretch" yourself a little bit by sticking a finger or two in there during your next shower--this will also be useful in helping find your cervix and seeing how far in it is (which will help you determine what cup length you need...Lunettes are probably okay for most people but if yours is crazy high, which is more common in younger users, you may have trouble reaching the stem to remove it)

I don't have anything to add to the previous advice, but I just wanted to wish you good luck! I think it is really brave of you to try cups this early on. Personally, I wish I had discovered cups years ago :-)

I also started using cups when i was 15, and a virgin. I had the very same issue! I used the labia fold (its one of the smallest) and i ended up buying a smaller cup. (Meluna medium to Meluna small) also getting the cup wet/ using lube helped! I ended up pulling my cup out once without bending it into a "U" shape, and it broke my hymen and then i had less issues gting my cup in! So its possible ur hymen could be in the way a bit also, like mine was!

Thank you all so much for the advice! I probably need coconut oil for sure and I think I still have my hymen, so maybe that's why it was a bit awkward when I tried to insert it. I'll try it again next time. Thank you guys so much! :)
