The same questions seem to come up time and again.
I've put all of my answers in one place:

Great resource. As a side note, if any of my cups seem to getting 'stuck' on the way IN (full bowels maybe? I haven't taken much notice), I have been known to bear down, poke it up as far as it will go, and then relax. Somehow or other it gets sucked up in there.

If that works for you, GREAT! There are a zillion variations. Everyone does it a little differently.

Oh, I'll have to try the tip to open the cup once the rim is just past the pubic bone! I now realized that I've been trying to get it high enough, before attempting to get it to open, because I thought it would just form a seal immediately where it was.

My Meluna's instructions say to boil it before the first use and after each period (before putting it away for storage). And to use toilet paper or plain water to clean it during period.

:o) If boiling makes you feel better, go for it. Personally, I think it's unnecessary.

I'm cool with no boiling, although it's not much hassle to boil anyway, so either way.

Before first use I think it was really needed, because it had that funky spot (mold injection mark?) on the rim that pretty much all MeLunas appear to have, where it looked like material was flaking off or something. So boiling made that area smoother. I was just saying, because in your guide you advise no boiling for silicon cups, but to follow instructions for TPE.

Oh! And I managed to get it open on first try with your tip! :) I did 7 fold, made sure the rim was just past the pubic bone, so I still had good grip on the base of the cup and twisted it 180º in the same direction it was folded and popped right away! Wiggling and kegeling it in after that was a lot easier than trying to get it open when it was high up there. Thank you! :)
