A few months ago, after far too long trying to decode all the measurements and suggestions, I finally bought myself a menstrual cup, a sckooncup size small. Now I'm wishing I had bought one years ago when I first found out about them. I can only imagine the money I could have saved. The thing is that I was nervous for so long about the size, but when I finally got it I was surprised at how small it actually is. And I love it. I had a little trouble inserting until i found a fold that worked for me, and after the first cycle I am comfortable with both insertion and removal. However after using it for two cycles I've found that apparently, my cervix rides higher during the beginning of my period than I thought, since I have trouble reaching the bottom to get it out. Also my period has decided to change from being medium flow the first 2-3 days and light the rest of them, to being SUPER heavy the first 2-3 and medium to light for the rest. And when I say SUPER heavy, I mean having to change super tampons every 2-4 hours.

I know I need to get another cup to use on my heavier days, but not sure which one I should get. One thing that worries me about possibly getting a larger size is the fact that I'm still a virgin and am worried about insertion and removal if I get a bigger cup size. But I am not fully worried since I've read other posts from people who also use the larger size cups and are also virgins. I love how soft and squishy the material is and don't want to get anything that is too much firmer than the sckoon cup. So I was wondering if I should just buy a sckoon large to use for the first few days of my cycle or if anyone can recommend a different brand to but that is just as soft, longer, and would have a larger capacity than the sckoon small. Also I'm gonna be in Germany until between July-August of 2014, so if their is a good European brand that is just as soft as a sckoon that might be easier to get than a sckoon I would appreciate the suggestion.

Go back to the charts! They're at the Community FAQ, remember? ;oP

Use what you know and like about the cup you have to pick something longer and with a higher capacity. If you are comfortable inserting and removing it, then going wider (even to a "large" size) will probably not be an issue. The extra 6mm is not that much -- even less when folded up.

Since you have time before your trip, you have time to order from "anywhere" and still get through whatever learning curve there might be with it so you can travel with confidence.

I'm actually in Germany right now until July-August 2014. But I like the firmness, or should I say softness, of the sckoon cup, so I was hoping someone would be able to help me narrow down the list to about 5-7 to chose from. There are just soooo many to try to compare them all at once. That is actually part of the reason it took me so long to buy one. The vast number of brands that are out there and all the charts is quite daunting. It is my hope that I could get the opinions of anyone who knows sckoon cup and can give me the names of brands that have a similar firmness level. The firmness chart I found doesn't have the sckoon cup on it yet. Then from there I can go back to the charts and compare the dimensions to make my final decision.
But thanks for your comment, I'll keep that in mind.

May I suggest a large Fleurcup? I love mine. It's soft, yet easy to insert and opens well, and at least for me, minimal prodding needed to get it to be fully open once my period is in full force :p

I have a small and a large Fleurcup, and I don't need to use the large each cycle, but I'm sure glad to have the choice of two sizes :)

I second the large Fleurcup. Plus for the OP, I am a virgin too and despite the Fleur's size, I can fold it up very small with the "half-diamond" fold and then collapse it into a C-fold and remove it one side at a time (hope that makes sense). Remember that softness gets a little more problematic in bigger cups to try to get them to unfold. Never a problem for me with my Fleur.

Cuplee comes to mind. Longer than the large Sckoon, but similar softness.

for heavy flow
I have a super heavy flow, that means (for me) change super tampons in 1-2 hours.

the cup who has more capacity is the LuvUr, but I think for you can work also cups like the Gaia, Si-bell or Natú.

Take a look to my blog, I have this cups and I write about them.

Re: for heavy flow
I've looked at the LuvUr Body, and I do like the larger capacity and would consider ordering one. However I not sure I feel comfortable ordering something from Nigeria. Would feel better if they accepted Paypal.

Re: for heavy flow
There have already been a couple buyers on the French MC forum and ordering was no problem. You can phone first if you feel better. That is the largest cup, though.

Re: for heavy flow
I have used the cup and the cup is very good.
and the company,I think you won´t have any problem with them. They were very kind with me in all moment.
you can write them and ask for a distributor in your country, if you feel more comfortable.
