Hi all!

I'm interested in trying out a menstrual cup, but even after doing some research, I'm not sure what to try.

I'm 25, not a virgin (though I haven't been sexually active in three years), never given birth, with a narrow entrance to my vagina. If I reach in with my middle finger (which is 8.2 cm long), I still can't reach my cervix. If it matters, I'm tallish - 5'7" - and approx 125lbs.

I was looking at the LilyCup, but I can't get it in the US, from what the site tells me. :(

Any suggestions?

I just realized they raised the shipping cost on those from the last time I looked I guess I wont be buying one from there. :(

If you are looking for good capacity in a cup, I'd recommend the NaturalMamma for people who have a high cervix. Out of the other choices with similar capacity, it is considered to be long but more on the narrower side. I love it. Though, did you know that your cervix can sometimes change position (higher/lower) at different times of the month? Have you checked it's height during your period? (it may be lower than normal, especially on day 1 and day 2). For this reason, I usually use a slightly shorter (a Large Meluna classic) cup on my first 2 days, and then NaturalMamma for the rest of the time. I'm pretty sure you can find both of these cups at http://www.femininewear.co.uk
Hope this helps. There are so many choices!

I haven't checked it during my period yet! I'm due this week, so I suppose I'll find out soon, heh. Does the site you linked to ship to the US?

Yes it does ship to the US. I have ordered from them at least 2 times and no problem, they took approximately 10 days to get to California. (may be longer during the holidays?) And the site will convert the price into dollars and everything. Super easy!

Hooray! I will try ordering from them once I have an idea of where my cervix is while menstruating.

Thank you so much!

The tail of the Lily makes it a VERY long cup. I don't know how trimmable it is. The Lily also has a unique flap on top that other cups don't have. (Well, the Femmycycle also has a flap but it's different.) Compare the lengths at http://sizecharts.livejournal.com/ The Lily is mentioned in the notes below the length chart.

Edited to add:
Despite what the directions and illustrations say, ANY cup will usually eventually settle (O) around your cervix. The height of the base of the cup is relative to the length of the cup and the length of your vagina. Other cups have a distinction between the body of the cup and its stem. The body of the cup sits comfortably above your PC pelvic floor muscles. (If you insert your finger and give it a squeeze, that's them.) Because the Lily's body and stem are integrated, the tapered end will most likely poke through the pelvic floor opening. And *I* find it hard to imagine that that would be comfortable -- but I don't know, it might be. I just wanted to point that out as something to consider in your selection process.

I have a Lily and have been successful with it--the stem is trimmable up to a certain point (I wouldn't trim past the last grip ring because I really need that ring to get it removed). The only thing is that it's just the right size to grip around my cervix tightly, which can cause cramping, particularly when I'm trying to remove it and it won't let up on suction. The thing I like about the lack of holes, though, is that it won't leak at all if it's popped open (the residual stuff will just back up inside you, so although that's kind of gross, at least you won't leak at the worst possible time)

Hello. I'm so glad to read this post here. I also seem to have a veeery long vagina and a veeery high cervix, when I stick my middle finger in I can't touch the cervix either, so I don't know how far up it is.

I was wondering if any of you have tried any of the brands mentioned here in the end, and how it went for you? For example, how long is the NaturalMamma compared to the large Meluna with a ring stem? I know there are size charts, but they don't include the length WITH the stems (or at least not for the Meluna), and the length of the Melunas differs depending on the stem.

Is the NaturalMamma longer than the Meluna with the ring stem? (The other stems are shorter, so that makes the Meluna with the other stems shorter too.) Is it easier for people with very long vaginas to remove than the large Meluna with the ring stem, or is it about the same?

How about the Lilycup? Has anyone here had any experience with the Lilycup compared with the other brands (especially Meluna or NaturalMamma)? Thank you!
