So, first, the good news is this cup is now working perfectly. Trimming the stem solved my irritation problems and I can wear it for my entire period now! YAY!

Bad news is for some reason this month it got really stained. Like, super dark stains around the bottom and stem. I read through the tags, and tried soaking it for 4 days in white vinager and water, and sunning it, no luck. I can't boil it cuz it grosses my family out. Any sugestions? It looks icky and it's bugging me. But I don't want to replace it.

using an old mug or buy one of these foldable silicone sterilising cups: http://www.femininewear.co.uk/foldable-silicone-sterilising-cup-3442-p.asp pour boiling water from the kettle over your cup and leave or heat in the microwave when relatives are out.

or you could buy some Milton tablets here: http://www.femininewear.co.uk/milton-sterilising-tablets---box-of-28-4839-p.asp and use one with the cup/mug to clean your cup with.

you could also soak a cotton wool ball in rubbing alcohol and wipe it over the cup briefly or the bicarb paste as suggested above scrubbed with an old toothbrush.

to prevent stains make sure you're rinsing the cup with cold water after emptying (hot water cooks the stains on, similar to only rinsing/scrubbing blood stains from bedding/underwear with cold water) and use a mild soap to wash after each emptying if at home, morning and evening if not.
