would REALLY appreciate advice -- in my 40s and really want to be using a cup

Hi -- would REALLY welcome advice for a user in her 40s. First some stats on me: I'm petite, 5'3", thin and active. I haven't had children and haven't been sexually active in several years, so I believe things are pretty tight down there lol. I've read through a lot of posts on this board and ended up buying a Diva cup 1 -- even though I'm older, given my frame and lack of kids, I thought that would be the best fit.

I really struggled with using the cup for the first time during my period last week. Cup hurt going in, but seemed to settle in nicely -- almost seemed "suctioned on" and I couldn't get it to turn. I'm pretty sure it was fully open as I felt around it and it was comfortable in there. Unfortunately I had leaks -- not great gushing leaks as it did catch a lot of blood, but was still leaking. I tried probably six separate times, emptying and reinserting, but it still leaked. Sigh.

It did seem to go in tilted to the right (I'm assuming my cervix is tilted) -- not sure if that's part of the problem.

Can anyone help with advice on the leaking?

Also it REALLY hurt every time I took it out -- should I be looking for a softer, more flexible model?

Thank you in advance for any thoughts or advice -- I really want this to work!
