Hi
I am new to this group and livejournal in general. I am hoping to get suggestions for a menstrual cup. I am about ready to give up on them. I have tried a diva cup which leaked tons even after checking position, the keeper which was too stiff and way to hard to clean and now the lunette which still leaks. I like the lunette softness but would be ok with firmer as long as it isn't as hard as the keeper. Would the femmecycle be a good choice? I am wondering if bell shaped cups would be good since I have a really heavy flow. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Did the keeper leak? which sizes do you have.

I had the Diva size 1 and the Keeper size B both used for women who haven't given birth. The Diva leaked after a while but didn't look completely full. I honestly don't remember if the Keeper leaked I tried it many months ago. I have tried the small lunette which leaked quite a bit and am now using the large lunette which doesn't look full when emptied but there is blood all the way up to the holes in small quantities and is full about half way. I am wondering if my cervix is taking up room in the cup. I would retest the Keeper and Diva but I don't have them anymore because I tried to remove the stem for cleaning purposes it wasn't painful or protruding and accidentally cut it to far thus creating a hole in the cup. I don't think my cervix is super low since it isn't super easy to touch it. I would say average to low cervix. I low for sure the large lunette en my period is lighter.

It sounds like your cervix may be taking up room, indeed. When that's the case, even if it doesn't look quite full, consider it full. If you have 2" room from the entrance to the tip of your cervix you could try a femmycycle, it's one of the higher capacity cups. It's very soft and according to the manufacturer it doesn't need to be popped open all the way to work, which is both great and a bit unnerving compared to other brands. Or you could try a large Fleurcup, which is similar to the large Lunette, only a good bit softer and more bell-shaped, therefore it'll give you a bit more capacity at the bottom. I'm also thinking the small Lunette may have been leaking either because it overflowed, or because you missed your cervix with the narrower rim.

Yeah, it sounds like you only tried the smaller sizes ? I know they're recommended to certain demographics, but if you have a heavy flow, and narrow cups leak, wider might be your answer. But first, could you maybe troubleshoot WHY it leaked ? Was it after a while, was the cup partially full when it happened, or straight away as if it wasn't there ?

In the first scenario, you need a higher capacity cup, or just to empty mroe often. In the latter it's a placement issue. in order to collect fluids, cups need to sit (o) around your cervix. Could you locate yours ? I could recommend a bunch of wide, bell-shaped cups (Fleurcup is one), but really the deciding factor would be the depth of your cervix.

The possibility of needing a larger size is why I asked what size the op had I agree with this.

Hello everyone,

Just a general update. I am trying the femmycycle on this cycle and have had very mixed results. I wore it all night on a heavy day without leaks. I have either had no leaks some leaks (like it isn't inserted properly or absolutely nothing in the cup. It is hard since this cup isn't supposed to open up all the way to decide how to insert it properly. Thoughts? At least I have had some success with this cup.
