This is the LAST thing I need to happen X(
I have a small Meluna. This is my second cycle with it. I just started today, so I went to go boil it in a pot I had bought just recently from goodwill.
I thought I had washed the pot. Maybe I forgot? Anyway, when I boiled it, the water turned very cloudy. I thought maybe it was just a lot of bubbles, but the pot is black on the inside, and where the water was splashing onto the empty walls of the pot, it looked like it was snowing.
So I quickly took it off the heat(it had been 4 minutes before I realized, though), and ran my meluna and the pot under cold sink water. Then, I rushed to my bathroom to rinse it with dove soap(like I always do).
Now, my Meluna is sticky around its ball stem and some of the rim. I don't know how to remedy this. I think there may have been oil residue in the pot.
Please help! I am a college student; I don't have the cash to buy a new cup. What can I do to fix my Meluna??? And is it safe to wear???
Thanks so much for any help!

Meluna owner here. I have heard (and learned from experience) that Melunas tend to be a bit tacky after boiling or otherwise sitting in water. It happens whenever I boil mine, and when I soaked it in water and peroxide to get stains out.

If you're worried about the white boiling water thing, I'd suggest just washing the pot thoroughly and boiling it again just to make sure you're not putting ick in your vagina. The tackiness will go away after it's been dry for a little while, and you should be good to go.

Thank you SOOOOO much! I feel so much better. This is only my second cycle with a cup and I'm still on edge.

I second what ant1matter said my MeLunas are all sticky after being boiled.

Thanks! It's nice to know I didn't destroy mine or something! Ahhh that would have been bad.

Is that a pot or a witch's cauldron you bought lol. Yep - my Melunas get sticky, too, it doesn't affect performance.

Might be just the water itself turning cloudy, not from the pot. I've had it happen to me before, but usually it is after I pour the water into the pot or whatever, it will turn cloudy. You might have to run your water for a bit.

You can try using bottled water and see if the same thing happens. I'm assuming you were using tap.

you don't actually 'need' to boil it ever again, just clean it with plain mild soap and water. Remember all the other things we insert into vaginas (fingers, sex toys, penises) that are never boiled or sterilised!

if you want to give it a deep clean after each period or to remove stains then you can soak in in Milton fluid/tablets, a white vinegar solution, soak in hydrogen peroxide, wipe with rubbing alcohol etc.
