I didn't see this posted anywhere, so I hope this isn't old news. Yuuki is now selling cups with an infuser box, which can be used to boil, then store your cup after your period. The infuser box is also available separately if you already have a cup. I plan to order two cups from them at the end of the week and can post pictures of the packaging if that would be helpful.

This infuser box looks smart and useful, indeed ;)!
I notably wonder if the lid must be shut the whole time during sterilization.
I didn't see any instructions for the infuser box on the Yuuki website..

according to the instructions/diagram here: http://www.yuuki.cz/en/instruction/directions-for-use-infuser-box/ you need to keep the lid on whilst it is in the microwave.

Oh thanks! Looks like I hadn't been able to find these instructions ;).

If the cup is well-fully immerged into water before boiling it in the microwave, I can’t see why it has to be ‘up’, why it shouldn’t be upside down inside the infuser box, though..

I think it's because the cup floats up more easily when the stem is upwards, when the stem is at the bottom of the box the cup is full of water so doesn't float/stays submerged better? I might be wrong but I can't think of any other reason why...

edit: I replied to your coconut oil comment on Femininewear's facebook page :)

On the other hand, there will probably be a firestorm from those who say that you shouldn't microwave anything in plastic (which I assume the infuser is made of.)

While it is a neat item, I tried their infuser box in the microwave and it got so hot, beyond my comfort level. I'll stick to using a glass mug. (Instructions do come with the box.)

I'm not being funny, but isn't it supposed to get hot?

I guess I expected the box not to get as... flexible? Flimsy? I don't know. It is probably fine, it just didn't seem to withstand heat the way I thought it should.

just use an oven glove to remove it like you would if it was in a mug/anything else that would go in the microwave?

That's a grand suggestion. =)
