Hello everybody,
For those of you who didn't see the first post I made I'm a sixteen year old virgin. I just got my first cup on Thursday - a Ruby Cup - and I managed to get it in on Friday evening. I think I have found my "goldilocks" cup! It was quite easy to get in using the triangle fold (also known as the extreme seven) and it is super comfortable! It sits (I think) quite nicely around my cervix - I haven't had any leaks since I put it in. I can't feel it and the end of the stem is within easy reach. However, I tried to take it out this morning and found that I couldn't get the suction to break! It felt like I was trying to tear out my cervix! OW! I watched this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLPBZz3uJEg - and found some other tips on LJ (including the spoon one!). Does anybody have any other tips on how to break the suction on a soft cup? I tried to get some air into it but I didn't seem to be able to get my finger to the rim... My cup has now been in for about 14 and a half hours. My flow seems quite light so if necessary I'll just tackle it out when I have my shower... I guess I did the noo-noo newbie thing - its in and open so lets just leave it alone and not see if we can take it out.....
Thanks in advance,
Abi

Bear down, relax, don't clench your pelvic floor, keep your jaw slack and don't forget to breathe. Squatting in a tub/shower might help bring the cup down into better reach. Sometimes a spoon can help to break a stubborn seal. Edited to add: but oops, you already found the spoon tip. Yes, get air into/above the cup, otherwise you will create suction.

just tried to get it out again while squatting in the shower and managed to get the seal broken and a lot of blood on my hands but I couldn't seem to partially fold it to get it past the opening.

Squatting might squish your body a little, try sitting on the edge or on the toilet. Pinch the base and rock it out at an angle.

You don't have to "hook" the rim when you take it out. I can't reach that far either. My approach is to squat, relax and bear down, get ahold of the stem with my left thumb and pointer finger, and insert a finger from my right hand alongside the cup, pushing it in on itself to break the seal. From there I can easily pull it down until it's about halfway out. When the base is out and it's time for the rim, I try to make a C fold using my thumb to push in. The rim coming out is always a tad uncomfortable, but only for a second, and then it's out. Hope this helped!

Cup is out
Finally got the cup out at 7:30 pm yesterday while in the shower! I used a very odd technique that I kinda just made up on the spot. Atleast it got the cup out. Removed it this morning again over the loo with minimal mess. I managed to get it to C fold so it didn't really hurt. I think I'm getting the hang of now! Thanks for the comments and encouragement!
