Hey everyone, I'm 17 and a virgin and I just recently got a Diva cup and I tried it during my last cycle and had a little trouble, but I'm figuring it out. This site has really helped me, but I did have one problem that I haven't been able to find an answer to, I can't pee like at ALL with my diva cup in. If I try it feels like my muscles are trying to push the cup out and I'm afraid it will come out into the toilet or something. lol So, has anyone else had this issue? Would trying to push it up a little higher maybe help? Cause when I'm sitting I can still kinda feel the stem and very bottom of the cup.

Seen this post ? http://menstrual-cups.livejournal.com/3084067.html#comments

You could try pushing it up a bit higher, but there's only so high cups can go, and the Diva is actually one of the longest cups. If you've tried wearing it for hours at a time and it's still too long, try flipping it inside out to shorten it. It might be enough to help. Or you could try taking it out to pee. Or if it really bothers you, look for a softer cup : http://menstrualcupinfo.wordpress.com/cup-stiffness-comparison-chart/

Well I've only left it in for about 30 minutes so far, and just one time. I'm trying to gradually get used to it. Do you think leaving it in longer might make a difference?

Sometimes it takes a little time for the cup to settle to its sweet spot, so it could end up a bit higher. So you could either kegel/nudge it up or let it climb up on its own (they usually do that). One thing people find that helps is to leave it overnight. But don't feel like you have to do any more dry runs, especially if it's uncomfortable. Many people find it's different for the real deal.

I wasn't on a dry run when I tried it, I was just easing into using it. Thanks though, hopefully after it's in a bit next time that will help. :)

I have that peeing problem too - at least most of the time. I usually remove, rinse, and insert when I have to pee and then test it out once the cup is back in.

If I have the peeing issue I relax and on/off kegel for 20-30 minutes -- not constantly but every few minutes or so. This usually works. If it doesn't I take the cup out, pee, and put it back in -- but that's such a pain in the butt that I usually try another few minutes of kegeling first.

I also found that wearing the cup makes me FEEL like I have to pee more often, so I usually wait a few more minutes before actually trying, just to make sure.

For me pushing the cup higher doesn't work - it's already pretty high - I didn't cut my stem and I still have to go searching for it most of the time.
