Hello I have been reading heaps of info on here, which is amazing. I currently have a juju (l) which i have alot of probs with leaking not popping open and coming out. I am quite active and I'm wondering if its too soft so I am going to try the meluna sport, has anybody got any reviews on it?

It sounds more like a fitment problem than a firmness one. Compare the dimensions of your Juju to other cups at http://sizecharts.livejournal.com/ and using what you like and don't like about your cup, figure out if you think a shorter/longer narrower/wider cup would suit you better. Also consider and compare shapes.

If the anti-suction holes around the rim of your Juju are small, try enlarging them. They help with popping open and breaking the seal for removal. FYI: The holes on the cup with the largest holes are 2mm.

Meluna sport
Thanks for the reply!
I have been doing some exploring and it feels like my cervex is really low,on my first day if I happen to jag a good fit and it stays open its pretty good but on day 2 , which is my heaviest its impossible to get it to stay there or not to leak no matter what I do, and doing any sort of activity is imposible. I really want this to work as I hate tampons and pads but its just not happening. Just a question about the cervex how can anything get past it? I thought it was sort of a fixed feature?
anyhow if nothing comes out of this I will be a full bottle on my nether regions!
I have also turned it inside out and enlarged the holes.

Re: Meluna sport
Do you have the large Juju or the small one? According to the size charts the large one is 5cm and the small one is 4.6. There are definitely a couple of smaller cups out there (if you need a really short one the MeLuna mini might be a better fit, I believe they're shorter and wider than most other cups). Does the cup come out even if you manage to get it to pop open? And when it's open does it stick out at all or the whole cup fits inside you?

That being said, I tend to struggle on my heaviest day too. Everything seems more swollen and my cup is harder to open, I often have leaks (not big one's but small one's).

Nothing can get past your cervix, your cup needs to sit around your cervix (much like if you stuck your finger inside an actual cup) in order to catch the blood. Figure out where your cervix lies during your period and angle the cup that direction a little.

The only other issue I can think of right this moment is a dangly cervix. Some girls find their cervix dangles more on their heavier days and if the cups capactiy is too small for them that their cervix actually takes up space in the cup causing leaks.

Re: Meluna sport
I have the large one.It does stick out but only on my 2nd day (I usually go for 3 days) I think I might have to have 2 cups one thats shorter for the 2nd day.
I think you maybe right about the dangley bit too.
When I stick it in the cup doesnt open it slams shut and I have to fiddle around with it and sometimes it opens, I can only do this quite close to entrance and then try to push it up.
But I have had a small win I tried inserting it standing with one leg on the basin and its seemed to hit the right spot, I still felt it at the entrance tho but it didnt leak so yay for that!

Re: Meluna sport
Rereading your original post, I'm not sure what you mean...

"I have alot of probs with leaking not popping open and coming out."

Leaking: Is it full-blown leakage where it has entirely missed the cup or overflowed? Or is it what we call "residual slobber," which is the flow that wound up in the nooks and crannies during a change finding its way out?

Coming out: Is it that you're having trouble getting it out? Or is it protruding or pressing out on its own?

As for when you're jogging, do you feel it shift? Sideways or up and down?

And what size is it? (l) for ONE/small? Or (l) = L for large?

As for getting past your cervix... no, it won't go THROUGH it to the other side but poor placement could mean that the rim misses it completely. (_)O instead of (O). That would be like trying to fill your mug by pouring coffee down its side. ;oP

Re: Meluna sport
Yes its full blown leaking not much in the cup at all. I love that "residual slobber" it reminds me of a St Bernard!
I have no probs getting it out, but it protrudes and it heads south when I exercise but thats mostly on my 2nd day, I cant believe how hard it is to get it working properly from one day to the next.
Its the large one.
I wish there was a little camera I could stick up there to see exactly where the bugger sits!
Thanks so much for all your help I am going to keep persisting to work this all out.

Re: Meluna sport
Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Missing completely. It sounds like the opening is not (O) around your cervix at all.

Want to try my method? I insert my cup so that the rim is just beyond my pubic bone and then allow it to open fully there. Instead of pushing it in with the opening toward my tailbone, I give the base/stem a nudge rearward so that the opening points up and kinda-sorta toward my belly button, then give it a boost as I kegel it up and into place. If forward like mine doesn't work, try left and right next until you find where your cervix is hiding.

Re: Meluna sport
Yes I think I am missing it sometimes I can get a good seal and no leaks. I think my cervix is doing a bit of ducking and diving! and its weird I have just started to do it just as you said! and it I do believe its working!!
Thanks so much!

Re: Meluna sport
If your cervix is obviously a lot closer to the entrance (low) than the length of your cup, then there's a good chance what you want is a shorter cup, not necessarily a firmer one... If you were trying to unfold the cup next to your cervix on the side, instead of underneath and (o) around, that would also make it quite difficult and pointless as far as catching blood goes. The medium MINI Meluna comes to mind as the shortest cup, but its capacity is fairly low, probably still much better than tampons though. I second others' comments, questions and suggestions.

Edited to add : If it's too long the first step would be to flip it inside out, that should make it shorter !
