Hey everyone,

I noticed that someone here saw the new American "Sckoon Cup" and posted here a while back.  A few people were asking questions about this cup and wanting to know if anyone had been sent samples yet....

Well...  I have.  And I imagine probably a few others too?   But I / we promised to keep it a secret until everything was officially ready to launch, and the company gave us permission to announce it, and say that I was helping them finalize the product. :)

And by the way, here is their website:  http://Sckooncup.com

So here is the deal--Sckoon Organics was running a test of their website with the cup section, and I suppose someone accidentally found it...   Oops...   lol.   Anyway, after seeing the post here, I emailed Sckoon to ask them if they meant for it to be found, and they said no.  But since it has, they told me to go ahead and tell everyone about it.

I was given a sample of their first product a couple of years ago, which was an opaque light pink cup...   But the model needed some changes.  So later on I was sent a sample of their small blue cup and their large clear cup.  Although no boxes or packaging yet.   Sckoon told me to expect new product samples soon, with packaging and all.

But I do have pictures of my current 2 samples, and I will share them with everyone here.   I think I will wait until their final package comes though, to do a video and review.  I would like pictures of all that for those projects.  But for now, here is some "new cup eye candy", so to speak :)  Any questions, please ask in a comment, and I will do my best to answer!

Oh wow, the flower petals at the base are adorable. :)

Yeah, I thought they were cute and unique :)

What are the capacities and the stiffness ratings? I love the cup! I JUST bought a new fleurcup and would have tried this first if had came out a few weeks ago!!!

Size 1: Small, for women who haven't previously given birth vaginally. Capacity 23ml,

Size 2: Large, for women who have given birth vaginally. Capacity 30ml,

The rim feels as stiff as a small Lunette, and the base of the cup (which is thinner and softer) is closer to a small soft Meluna, I think.

Cool. :) Do you have another "known" cup like the Keeper, Diva Cup, Fleur Cup, etc. to do a side-by-side comparison? I have sizing issues with the Diva so I'm looking for something smaller and squishier.

I am working on some comparison photos :)

Sizes at http://sckooncup.com/size-selection.html
Small = 40x40, 23ml, with a 30mm stem
Large = 45x50, 30ml, with a 20mm stem

Their phone number has a 212 area code. That's NY City.

What if I haven't given birth vaginally, but totally need the higher capacity? (I have used a large Lunette for the past 7 years or so, for reference.)

As always... IGNORE the guidelines. ;)

Awesome!

(when I bought my 1st Lunette, there was only one size!)

Pretty!

To be completely honest, Quitterie from the french forum easycup deserves the credits for letting me know about this cup. I just googled it. I'm glad the company let you come forward about this and answer the ever-so-important stiffness question. ;)

Yay! I couldn't imagine how they would have skipped you as a tester. Do you know when they are officially launching? Also, how do you like the rim? I happen to love the LadyCup firm rim / soft body combo, but this one looks more flared.

I'm curious what their prototype looked like, too. No particular reason, just interested in the evolution of cup design. :-)

I do like the rim, its pretty smooth. The bottom is really soft, but the newer versions are easier to pop open than the first one. I'm not sure if they want me to post pictures of the first one...

No word yet on the official launch, but I'm sure it will be soon :)

I was also wondering about the rim, as a general cup-question though. Does it seem stiffer rims are helpful? And how are they supposed to be helpful-- just for helping it pop open more? (I almost feel that the stiffer rim on my large Fleur is what bothers me, so at least in my case I'm not sure a stiffer rim on a soft cup is helpful(?)). (Wondering why they went for a stiffer rim than not).

Other question: Since the Sckoon cup has already been recommended to people, if they try to make an order, does it let them? or does it give them some sort of error message?

And yes, comparison photos please!

Compared to most cups, I think the rim on a Fleurcup is softer, not stiffer. It's definitely softer when compared to a Ladycup. Possibly because it's thinner.
Personally I would never say they went for a stiffer rim, I'd say they went for a softer one.

Ladycup and Fleurcup have a similar firmness, in my view, but in the Fleurcup, it's more evenly divided over the body and the rim; in the Ladycup, it's more concentrated in the rim.

What cup(s) are you comparing your Fleurcup to?

I ordered one today I hope it goes through, it charged my card already!

I wasn't going to get a new cup but I love the design.

Cute cup; weird name

Sckoon...

reminds me of a word a pirate would say...something like this, "Avast You Sckoons!!!"

(It's probably just me)

It kinda looks like juju and fleur cup had a baby...! The colors are pretty too. Definitely looking forward to the reviews for this cup.

Just saw some listings on eBay (same price as on the site, but I don't know if it's an official retailer). http://www.ebay.com/itm/Softest-Menstrual-cup-SckoonCup-Meditation-healthier-alternatives-to-tampons/160983718353?ssPageName=WDVW&rd=1&ih=006&category=67590&cmd=ViewItem There's a shot of their packaging (maybe?). This is kind of a weird launch. If it's already available on Amazon and eBay, why not just officially launch it and start publicizing it?

Hi Melissa. thanks so much for posting this, very helpful! I'd love to hear more about your experience getting it to pop open, and since tou have all the cups, how you would compare it with a small ladycup and the soft meluna WRT getting it to open. I've just created a new post on this topic http://menstrual-cups.livejournal.com/3075996
