Hi! I'm thinking about getting the FemmyCycle cup, but as it's so new there isn't much feedback on it yet! Have any of you tried it?
I'm sixteen and I have been using a small lunette since December 2011, and I love it! I would maybe like a cup with a higher capacity though (hence why I'm looking at the FemmyCycle - and it's non-spill opening is so cool!) as on my heavy days I have to empty it whilst at college.
Are there any other good capacity cups which would be suitable for a sixteen year old virgin? I have no issues using my lunette. :) Thank you!

Basically if you want more capacity, you'll be upgrading to a large sized cup, and pretty much any large cup would do, taking into account that length is usually the most important factor, and that larger sizes come in different shapes and stiffnesses. I'd personnaly recommend virgins to go with softer cups to make it easy to fold for removal, but that's up to you really.

And here's a review of the femmycycle : http://www.femininewear.co.uk/femmycycle-menstrual-cup---twin-pack-3355-p.asp
If you go through the past few weeks or months or just google it you'll see the Melissa has done a review on this comm' as well. And obiously on her blog : http://menstrualcupinfo.wordpress.com/about-femmycycle/

thank you, I'll look into longer cups :)

...if you're having a hard time reaching the base of your Lunette, than that makes sense, not so much if you had to trim a significant amount of the stem off though.

I haven't trimmed the stem and I sometimes have to reach quite a lot to grasp the base of the cup. When my cup overflows it's usually only about 2/3 to 3/4 full so I guess my cervix must be taking up room?

Then it makes complete sense. And I agree, it might be taking up room, which is normal btw, but just fyi cups with a rounder bottom (Fleurcup/Si-bell, Meluna, Natural Mamma) will provide more capacity near the base vs. more tappered cups such as Divacup & Lunette.

Yeah, in addition to trying the FemmyCycle I was debating trying a Meluna as well - the FemmyCycle looks like it has a really rounded bottom with a high capacity which I think would suit me :)

I really want to try it too! I've purchased one but am just waiting for my period now to test it out! Will post a review as soon as I do!

It looks so cool! And it has a really high capacity! I just wonder if it would be too big for me? I'll definitely read your review on it - what cup(s) do you have and use anyway?
fluffmyflamingofluffmyflamingo on February 12th, 2013 08:40 am (UTC)
Yeah I really want to try it for capacity as on my heaviest days I have to empty at work and it's really awkward as the toilets are very busy! Also the second cup will be a bonus if I do still have to empty. I also want to try it because I often particularly on my heaviest days struggle to get the seal right - I've been using a cup for 12 months now and don't seem to ever get any better, the FemmyCycle alleges that you don't need, in fact shouldn't try to pop it open for it to work! If that really is true I'll be ecstatic! I also like the removal loop as I'm high-cerviced and struggle with a grip stem. The cup I'm using at the moment is a Mooncup UK which I really only chose because it was the only one readily available in the shops here! I would say about the FemmyCycle though that it does seem quite large when folded and you really have to grip it tight to keep the air in so assume you'd have to get your fingers in there quite a bit to correctly insert it - it'd probably not be a problem for me as I'm in my 30s but you could possibly struggle being so young and still a virgin?

Yeah, I want it so I can go all day at college without having to change it, and hopefully it will fold up small enough for me!

Hi there,
I normally use either a large Fleur or a large Lunette and have had great use with both. I need a short wide cup with high capacity. After reading about the FemmyCycle I tried it and it was HORRIBLE. I've used cups for almost 3 years now so know the tricks of the trade, and I could not get the femmycycle to work for me. Couldn't get it into place easily (which is crazy because with such a low cervix, it's not like I have to really get it up high!) couldn't get it to open, and when I might have once, it was uncomfortable as it placed a great deal of suction on my cervix. EPIC fail... They send you two in the pack, never touched one if anyone wants it... :(

How much would you be selling it for? :)

I have horribly heavy periods, and the best cup for capacity for me is the Diva, because the holes are tiny and very high up. I've found with every other cup that it only fills up to the holes, and on some cups that is pretty low down. I only use a small diva, but it is really high capacity and fills right to the brim.

I've also tried mooncup uk, large lunette, small and large ladycups and the miacup. Nothing holds as much as the Diva for me, the closest is the miacup, which is similar in style.
