Hello cuppers!

This is just out of curiosity. Is there anything about your cup (please specify which cup!) that you really dislike?

I'm looking into getting a second cup and I think this might help eliminate some of my options :D. It's sooo hard to decide which one to get!

I currently use a large MCUK, and the thing I dislike about it is the low capacity (for my two heavy days). Other than that, I have no complaints.

Thanks everyone!

low capacity for my two heavy days (getting up every 2 hours when trying to sleep is no fun).

leaks when i go from lying down to standing up (although this mostly happens during the two aforementioned heavy days).

but mostly i love it. i have two UK Mooncups (to have a backup. when i needed to replace my first cup i was miserable).

I have one rather big (Diva large) cup and one rather small (Moon Cup US small) when I really need something in the middle, so I often have days where one or the other doesn't fit quite right. And I don't like the tube stems, as they're hard to clean out easily. Also, the MC looks like the stem is starting to break away from the cup after only about 2 years, which is annoying. Other than that though, I like most of the features of both cups.

My small Ladycup is the most dependable of all my cups, but would it kill the Ladycup manufacturers to add a couple of real grip rings to the stem or the base? And the lower set of holes is annoying because it lowers the capacity of the cup quite a bit. Otherwise it'd be perfect!

I wish my large Lunette had larger measuring lines. The only way I can find them is to FEEL for them. I'd love to be able to SEE them. Sometimes on my worst days, it feels too stiff but usually I think its stiffness helps it seal securely.

And even though it's my "in case of emergency" cup that I almost never use, I wish my Diva (which only fits me inside out) had larger anti-suction holes so it would pop open more easily, especially because that's a common complaint from others.

Edited to add: I also have a large MCUK for my light days. As much as I love my large Lunette for my heavy days, I wonder if I wouldn't like a large Fleurcup better -- because it's softer and has a "blunter" base. And Fleurcup might still be having a significant SALE. Check them out before prices go up.

I checked again today and now it's 2 for 19.99 on clear, pink and red cups. Still, I'm having a friend check with her friends for a group order hehe.

Sometimes I wish my Cuplee and Meluna soft weren't so squishy, because there are times when I find it difficult to tell if they have popped open and are in right. But hey, my fault for knowingly picking the softest cups. Other than that, they are just great, especially my Cuplee, which I use most of the time (and I'm now wearing!).
neetzscheneetzsche on January 8th, 2013 01:10 am (UTC)
M meluna classic: it doesn't pop open very well. Doesn't stand up to heavy flow.

L lunette: when I'm inserting it, it's difficult for me to have this cup and my finger inside of me at the same time. If I have to change it often, the size and firmness leave me a bit sore.

I know one cup should be ideal, but when you have variable flow, choosing between big and small sizes is super useful.

I don't like the slippery, squeaky texture of my Yuuki (small, soft). I also don't like it's hollow stem.

I don't like the slipery smooth texture of my Meluna (small (technically mini), old original design). I don't like that the ball stem is hard to grip, and really, what are the teeny tiny grip rings for? Also, I can't flip it out to clean the very bottom inside because it ripped a bit. And there are crease lines along the holes where I always fold them. BUT Meluna has fixed pretty much all these problems with their newest design. Except for the creasing, I don't know if it's a texture thing or if it's just a TPE thing.

I don't like the stiffness of my Fleurcup (small, violet, stiff). I don't like that it doesn't have measuring lines.

I'm not too fond of the way my Lunette (small, Diana) slightly bulges out in the cup. The rim could be softer. And what's up with the 13.5 ml line? 10 or 15 would be much better.

I haven't used my Si-bell (small) long enough to really pick up on any dislikes. Maybe the lack of measuring lines. Oh, and it's harder to push it up with my fingers, since it's so soft.

All minor nitpicks. I love my cups (except for my Fleur, I only like it for its looks) and they all work great for me, barring weird unusual periods.

And gosh darn it, but I would LOVE a cup with measuring lines for every ml along the cup. Yes, slightly harder to clean, but then I wouldn't have to make my own measuring stick for each cup.
spiderslovemespidersloveme on January 10th, 2013 01:54 am (UTC)
Do you have an old style fleurcup? The new ones are way softer, about the softness of the old yuuki.
selofainselofain on January 11th, 2013 02:18 am (UTC)
Yes, I do. Unfortunately, I couldn't resist the recent sale and now have two new fleurcups heading my way. (yay comparisons)

The stiffness bit only came up because I recently decided it looked lonely living in my purse as my emergency cup and decided to use it. I used it once, two years ago when I got it, but boy was I reminded of just how stiff it is.

I have small MINI soft ball stem MeLuna and my only complaint is that it stains very quick (clear glitter). Other than that, it's the perfect size and shape.

I do wish they made the MINI in stemless, I don't need mine at all, and the softs in all the nice colors they make the classics.

The large Yuuki is my "Goldilocks" cup - I really like the SUPER firmness, the high capacity, large holes, grip rings, etc. (I cut the stem off.)

I wish it wasn't clear since it stains and looks dingy yellow. I would much prefer to have a colored cup!

I wish my large fleur had measuring lines. Otherwise it's basically my goldilocks cup.

I have a Large sized Diva cup and I hate it. It's too big for me (even though I've had 2 pregnanies and 3 kids) and presses on my bladder terribly. The holes are so tiny they're also really hard to clean. The stem was a nightmare, took me about 2 seconds to decide to cut that right off which helped the teeniest bit but honestly it was my worst buy ever.

Have just ordered a MeLuna soft in medium and hoping I'm going to love it!

I'm using a large Lunette Selene, and most of the time it's perfect. I'm considering getting something slightly smaller/squishier though, for those weird days when the Lunette presses up against my bladder and gets uncomfortable. I don't really need the capacity of the large most days either.
moonhoney925 on January 9th, 2013 12:44 am (UTC)
Maybe try a small Fleurcup. Similar size to a small Lunette although the small Lunette is much softer/squishier than the large one.

I have both size Lunettes and Fleurcups, I am undecided as to which large one I prefer but I much prefer the small Fleurcup over the small Lunette.
juliiie87juliiie87 on January 9th, 2013 04:21 pm (UTC)
Small (or large!) Fleurcup, Si-bell and large Cuplee come to mind.
Eireinneireinn on January 8th, 2013 10:53 am (UTC)
I have a medium Meluna, and I generally love it. Two minor quibbles with it though:

It's a bit too long for me as I have a low cervix. This isn't a problem with the cup as such, but something to keep in mind if you've also got a very low cervix.

I've also found that it stains very quickly. I've only used it for four or five periods, and it's already noticeably yellowish when it used to be clear with glitter in. The discolouring doesn't seem to get any better after cleaning, either.
juliiie87juliiie87 on January 8th, 2013 02:23 pm (UTC)
Hydrogen peroxide is your friend ! :)
Lorlorrainec on January 8th, 2013 04:33 pm (UTC)
My Femmecup is generally great. Only two quibbles: It's clear and gets discolored easily, though cleans up fine with hydrogen peroxide. And it's has a slick/slippery texture that took some getting used to. When I first got it I was always worried while taking it out that it would go *squip* out of my fingers and into the toilet.

My previous cup was a rubber Keeper. That one I would have preferred it if the stem hadn't been hollow (what's the point, anyway?), but it was otherwise pretty much perfect.
k slobegintohope on January 8th, 2013 09:23 pm (UTC)
Both of my DivaCups (each size) seem to leak. My size 2 Lunette always gives me cramps for some reason, and also leaks. The large Yuuki is the only one that never gives me any problems; I love it!
Baby Bloodheartbabybloodheart on January 9th, 2013 02:02 am (UTC)
Ladycup - The only real complaint I have is that it's a little tricky to grab as it sits high (a good thing for me...as stems always bug me, but I'm one of the few women who cannot remove their stems...plus it sits so high as it's wide, narrower cups hurt my cervix) and it has no grips. It has a lower capacity than other cups, but honestly this doesn't bother me as it fits me so much better than other cups and super easy to insert due to it being so smooth and squishy.

I also have/have used Mooncup, Femmecup, Divacup, MeLuna, and Lunette - Divacup and Lunette were too long and narrow for me, and I hated MeLuna as it didn't hold it's shape and stunk no matter what I did.

I absolutely adore my Fleurcup. (I think it's a small; it's been so long I've forgotten.) I do have one large problem and one small problem with it, though.

Large problem: It's painful to remove. This is probably my fault. The rim is often difficult to move past a wall of muscle to come out, so I'm still trying out different folds. I wish the rims were a teensy bit softer.

Small problem: After rinsing, the holes are still partially clogged. Not a big deal to me because I don't use it very often in one month, and they clear up after boiling.
m03m on January 9th, 2013 09:30 pm (UTC)
The only thing I disliked about my large Fleurcup, apart from the stem, were the grip rings. They're very pronounced and I found they were chafing me. So I removed them almost completely, by filing them down, and all was well with the world.
spiderslovemespidersloveme on January 10th, 2013 02:00 am (UTC)
Diva- loved it except those blasted holes are wayyy to small to function. Inside writing and the holes are hard to clean. Otherwise perfect for me if these major flaws weren't there.

Large lunette- too stiff and pressed on my bladder. Hard to remove/ break suction. Leaked more than the Diva for some reason. I think I have an odd anatomy!

I have a large fleurcup and a small mooncup USA coming soon!

Still having leaks with both my small Lunette and large Fleur... I feel it's because I move a lot (pretty ADHD...) and the soft cups like to leak :/

On higher cervix days, the large fleur really hurts to get out because it's so wide. The whole time I'm bearing down to try to get it far enough to pinch the bottom to even break the seal is a bit painful. Hoping to try the mysterious Jasmine cup on my lighter days to resolve that problem. And if that's too stiff I may have to try the Diva yet!

Small Lunette was low on capacity and the stem on low days was irritating... but because it's comfortable on my higher days (at least for removal) I'm hesitant to cut it at all!

I have meduim and large MeLuna glitters, I use the large for the heavier days and the meduim for lighter and "I think it's going to start really soon and I want to be prepared" days.

I have a very low cervix and even the meduim is really too long for me but I like the softness of them and the thicker rims. The grip rings get pretty irritating after a couple days, but they make it easy to grab so I just deal with it. NOT easy cups to open, but I've learned how to work them so that's okay.

They also stain pretty badly, but I don't care about that.

I have low cervix.

I tried Lunette Selene but the ridges were irritating and it leaks very easily. I think this happens because it's pretty "grippy" to the muscle wall and with movement it some how move the cup and leaks.

Lady cup is the best for me. However, the slippery texture makes it a little hard to wiggle it out. If you have low cervix it wont be too much problem . I do a punch down fold to take it out.
