I bought a small diva in 2010 and I want to upgrade to a large diva for some extra capacity. I've heard somewhere that the diva has changed somewhat and the holes are larger. Did it change since 2010 and what are the changes? I've tried a few cups but the diva is my preferred cup due to the length.

EDIT: Since the Diva hasn't changed, I decided to get a large fleurcup. Even though it is somewhat shorter, it is soft and has a higher capacity. Fleurcup's site has a sale going on right now and a large cup was 9.99 euros, or about 13$. I got a green one!

i haven't heard of that.
there are quite a few cups with a similar length nowadays, see the sizecharts. If you need a high capacity, an XL Meluna is probably the best option.

*edit: and the stream of questions about the horribly tiny holes hasn't really stopped here.

If the op wanted to change cups, wouldn't the Large Yuuki be closer in shape to the Diva and have that higher capacity? It seems to make sense to me to stick with what you know works.

I did try a large lunette, but the stiffness was too much for me and I know the Yuuki is somewhat stiffer than the lunette. I would like to stick to the diva and I wanted to make sure it didn't change in a way I wouldn't like :)

Sorry I didn't realize the Yuuki was so firm. I just looked at that chart now. I also don't think you need to change brands either. Seems like there is enough difference between the S and L.
Serpent: neutralserpent_849 on December 28th, 2012 09:35 pm (UTC)
well, this shape difference is a disadvantage by default. if anything, it's the low cervix folks that may find this or that shape more comfortable... most others just get a tiny bit more capacity with the rounded bottom, if the cups is anywhere near the cervix.

I was just basing it off the capacity chart. Shape is important to me, cone works so much better, but I guess I'm just one of those weird low cervix people.

yeah i'm like that too:D
as for the capacity, the three highest capacity cups all hold around 30ml - the XL meluna and also the large fleurcup&yuuki. it appears to depend on the person which of these lasts longer.

I prefer V-shaped cups I think, just because I find them easier to grab and remove with their thinner bottom. But that's because I don't need 30 ml capacity. I also wonder if the shape makes them pop open easier, but that might rather be a case of my Cuplee being silicone vs. my medium Meluna soft. I think jessie (or was it chamekke??) said that the cone shape on Mini Melunas was by far the easiest to pop open. Oh btw, I just WON an optimized classic Meluna, so I guess I'll find out...^^

oh, congrats!
ironically, i also got a meluna classic today. i ordered mine because i've had way too much spotting recently and i decided to finally try the really tiny meluna. should've got it when i first thought of it, lol.

do you still have stems on your cups? i think with a stem there shouldn't be much difference between the shapes.

as for popping open, there's very little difference between my medium soft mini, small optimized soft and even small mini classic. well, kinda hard to tell with the classic as i'm far more experienced now. i'm on my period so i just washed it, cut off the stem, washed it more, turned inside out and inserted. in the beginning i thought i might get a soft after all (not available from the russian retailers i tried, and no time to wait as i wanted it asap), now i'm not so sure i need a soft.

I do in fact, but even so, I still find it easier to insert a finger next to a tappered base than a fuller, more bell-shaped one (just more room for the finger to climb up and less chance of hurting myself with my fingernails).

OP, sorry for clogging your post.
I swear, I've seen a post that mentionned a slight change in design, but I cannot seem to find it using the tags or google. :(

try to remember when it was and read the month? if google doesn't find it, pay a special attention to locked posts (and make sure you are logged in while searching).
i must have missed that, and from what i remember i wasn't reading the comm attentively in late june-mid july, then mid to late august, and then in late november-mid december. if i really missed it, it was likely one of these. but of course i may also be just failing to remember :/

Gah! So according to this I do have the newer style. I was hoping for some larger holes!
juliiie87juliiie87 on December 30th, 2012 01:22 am (UTC)
Yup. I say if you're hoping for something different... how about a Natural Mamma, or a large Mamicup ? They're plenty long too...

Or even an XL Meluna if it's the capacity you're after... though you'll have to choose between somewhat firmer or much softer than your Diva.

I've tagged it now. As far as I know, all members can tag posts (using the existing tags).

Right... Somehow I forgot about that. Thanks !

I know there was a post about it in this journal, but I did find a post in mc_sales about an old divacup

"Size 1 (small) Diva Cup - This is an OLD style Diva cup... Because it's the old style Diva cup, the suction holes are very small."
Serpent: neutralserpent_849 on December 30th, 2012 12:37 am (UTC)
lol were they even smaller than now? seems so...
Darling Nikkijessiebanana on December 30th, 2012 02:31 am (UTC)
I definitely said that...I don't know if the other person did too. For me it's a huge difference. There is just such little room for be maneuver with the bell shape and it just doesn't open fully.

Also because I have a low cervix and cups are so close to my entrance I HATE the feeling of a bigger bottom. It's irritating. I know it doesn't bother some people, but it bothers the hell out of me.
m03m on December 30th, 2012 10:49 am (UTC)
I'm the other way around: pointy bottoms chafe me, rounded ones are totally comfortable for me and my low cervix.
