I just wanted to simply see what the responses would be. I want to know how long everyone went with using only 1 cup. I've had a Diva Cup as my first and a Fluercup, both got thrown away due to a yeast infection caused by a lubricant I used. But then I bought a Lunette Selene, It'll be 3 years in january 2013 with my lunette cup. All together I've been using a cup since september 2010.

Almost two years? I used a diva exclusively until about half a year ago when I bought a meLuna, shortly after which I got my first IUD so I used the meLuna almost exclusively.

I've been using a Diva Cup since 2007. I'm on my 2nd cup right now.

wow, so i guess lifespans of cups last forever pretty much with decent care!

I've only had mine (a Diva cup) for about five months, I think. I've also only been using it exclusively for the last two months. There was a pretty steep learning curve for me, but I'm so happy with it now that I've got it down!

I got my small Lunette in January 2010. This summer I briefly tried Meluna, but my body chemistry reacted badly with the material, making it smell like something died. So I'm back my trusty Lunette.

I got my first (Diva) cup in 2005. I just replaced it this year after I left it boiling too long and scorched it.

"both got thrown away due to a yeast infection"
You didn't need to do that. Even if some yeast remained on the cups after washing, boiling, etc, you will always have a little yeast in your vagina. It's only an issue if conditions are favorable for yeast to grow out of control. You don't need to eradicate it.

I've used menstrual cups since 30th June 2003.

I think I used my Mooncup for 6-7 years before switching to the Ladycup that I use these days, I've tried a few other cups too (Divacup, Femmecup, Lunette, MeLuna, softcups and diaphragm as a menstrual cup).

Wow, seems like you've nailed every brand there is to try!
noodlenoodz on December 15th, 2012 01:22 am (UTC)
I used a Keeper from 1998 to around 2003, then mostly switched to a Mooncup UK because I acquired one for free. I bought a Meluna in 2010 just because I wanted a colored cup, plus my Mooncup was looking kinda gross by that point (so I threw it away). I mostly use my Meluna but I STILL occasionally use my Keeper, if it's the first cup I grab when my period starts suddenly or whatever. So that's like 15 years with that cup!

wow, your probably the longest user with a cup then!
sofia_airodebas on December 15th, 2012 01:47 am (UTC)
I'm new to cups, I've been using my Mooncup UK since last September (2012) but I already love it soooo much!
Angela Heckmanaxjohnson on December 17th, 2012 01:30 am (UTC)
Yeah, cups are awesome much more comfortable for me, and i have less cramping!
xo_bumblebee on December 15th, 2012 01:49 am (UTC)
For me it's about 2 1/2 years. Wish I would have known about it sooner! I only tried it out because my vagina for some reason became too dry to comfortably use tampons.
Angela Heckmanaxjohnson on December 17th, 2012 01:32 am (UTC)
Tampons will dry you out, there's a chemical in them that does that to soak up the blood. I switched to a cup like 2 months after i had my son. I tore my cervix during birth a little and the tampons were irritating it while it healed.

I began using the Diva Cup in June, but I had overflowing problems during the first three days so I got a XL Meluna Classic and began using it in August. Used it in August (perfect) and September (had some leaking problems), half of October, could not get it right on November, and used it all except for one cycle day in December (perfect).

Hopefully I got the hang of this.
teacupcake89 on December 15th, 2012 05:08 pm (UTC)
Have been using cups for about 15 months, switched from my MCUK to a fleur for more capacity and softness after a few cycles :)

psst: typo in the post heading 'there' (their) :)
