Hey All,
I lurked on this page for quite a while before finally deciding a on a DivaCup and it was definitely one of the best decisions I have made. I am 22, not a virgin, and I think I have a fairly high cervix because I've never been able to find it (I've tried many times during many points in my cycle). Not knowing where my cervix is, however, has not been a problem for me with the DivaCup. I was fortunate enough to have the cup work the first time I tried it, though I'll admit that I felt a little queasy the first few times I inserted/removed it. Removing the cup is sometimes a little painful at the end but it's manageable. I can safely say that I will never go back to tampons but I have a couple of questions:

1. The cup sits low, which I like because I was really worried about not being able to reach it. However, the stem pokes me sometimes and I'm considering trimming it a bit. I got through one cycle without the cup getting out of a reach but I'm wondering if I should wait a few more cycles to make sure the cup will always sit low.

2. (I apologize in advance if this is TMI) I can't for the life of me pass a bowel movement with the cup in. I always removed my tampons before pooping (I usually needed to change it anyway) but I don't really like the idea of having to remove the cup and hold it or put it down somewhere. Thoughts?

1. If you've gone through an entire cycle, and you feel like you don't really need the stem to assist removal, then I'd say go ahead and trim a litle bit, see how it fits that way.

2. At home, I would probably remove the cup, empty it in the toilet and throw it in the sink to rinse when I'm done. In a public bathroom, you could probably put some toilet paper on your lap and sit the cup there, if you don't want to hold it. Note that I rarely need to remove my cup during the day.

Which leads me to think that if that's really bothering you, you could try a softer cup. <3 my super soft Cuplee btw. Large Si-bell, L & XL Meluna soft and possibly Natural Mamma and Mami cup could also come into consideration, though I'm not 100% positive how those last 2 rate stiffness-wise.

yees a softer cup should be good!
if it sits low, maybe your cervix isn't as high as you think. try flipping it inside out to see if you prefer it this way.

I'm another diva user with a pretty high cervix. It took me a few months to figure out where the cup seemed to want to sit naturally, and when I realized how high that is for me I was very glad I hadn't trammed the stem in the first month or two. YMMV of course, but I'd give it at least another cycle.

I can keep the cup in for a bowel movement, but I'm still a bit more comfortable taking it out for that. I"ll pretty much just second what juliiie87 said there.

I think I'll wait a cycle or two before I trim the stem. I'm a little hesitant to flip the cup inside out because I am really afraid of not being able to reach it but if it doesn't seem to ride up during the next few tries I'll try it out. I don't feel it when it sits low and my PC muscles seem to be holding it nicely in place but I don't know if it's anywhere near my cervix or if it will go any higher.

I will definitely look into getting a softer cup next time but I don't have the funds right now so I definitely want to try to get the Diva to work. I think the problem might be mental (I felt it moving down and I was really afraid of pushing it all the way out and having to deal with it) so I might be able to work it out. If not, having to take it out isn't so bad.

Thanks everyone!

No worries. As long as the suction is good, then you can't poop it out. :)

I have a diva and a high cervix as well, but it does sit very low. I had to trim the entire stem off to be comfortable, but if i do kegels or anything, it rides up. if the preference is for it to sit low, it will drop down, just make sure the rim is above your pubic bone.
