Hey everyone, I got my LilyCup samples a while back, actually. But today (December 7, 2012) I just got my FemmyCycle samples too! I emailed Dr. Shihata and he said as soon as he got some samples, he would send them to me. So today I got a surprise in the mail, that was nice! :)

Anyway, I will be making a video and writing a full review for both of these brands as well. I will post them when they are finished. But for now, I just want to share some photos I took today of both brands. I'll try and put them behind a cut, but there will be a lot of them, so dial-up users, please beware :)

My cycle did hit me yesterday, so Finally I will be able to test these items.  I am mostly curious to see if these new inner rims (especially the femycycle one) is really effective against leaks and spills.  I can't wait to write the reviews for everyone, I will give them each a one-day turn.

I know FemmyCycle is FDA approved, but I cannot remember if LilyCup is, I will have to check the site again.  But with the approval of FemmyCycle, I am sure all the American sellers are just chomping at the bit to carry it, if they're not carrying it already.  It took this long for some samples to come through, so we will see.  Anyway, here are the pics, enjoy!

First up, FemmyCycle:

I'm interested in the 'spine' of the Lily cup that supposedly folds to a tampon width, and whether the stem is trimmable.the rim looks a bit of a faff to clean under though in between changes...

the stem is trimmable, yes. It is solid to about half an inch up. But because it is opaque, I would say feel around and find where the solid area ends, and be careful not to trim any further. Of course you lose the benefit of grip rings when you trim, but some people who are really short inside just don't need them (like me).

The rim is stiff, I mean it will not pop up the way the FemmyCycle rim will. It stays firmly in its shape/position. So yes, you would need something to clean under the rim, maybe a tooth brush specially for the purpose of cup cleaning. but that is like for serious cleaning. For just a quick change, a simple rinsing would do the trick, as under the rim is actually smooth, no corners. Thus everything would just rinse right off it.
