Hey ladies,
So I've recently learned about menstrual cups, and HOLY COW!! Why was I never told about these before?! As someone who is blessed to have two seven-day periods a month, it's something I really want to try. I'm currently doing research on which one seems to be the best for me, but I could use some help.

Since having a kid, my hooha seems to reject everything. I had an IUD put in. It fell out 2 hours later. I had another put in, and it lasted 2 weeks before falling out. My doctor told me I was one of those rare people where my lady parts just don't like to be bothered. Since having kids, it's even the same with tampons. They just don't stay in me. I go to the bathroom and they somehow find a way to fall into the toilet. I know. Awesome.

So I'm wondering if I use a menstrual cup, will it just fall out like everything else? I would hate to waste my money on something that won't work for me. Is there a certain brand or cup that works better for issues like this?

Cups stay in with suction, so I think you'd have better luck getting one to stay in than a tampon. I would go through the size tag and find whichever cup looks largest (most cups come in at least 2 sizes, the larger one being specifically for heavy flows or women who have given birth). Have you tried doing Kegels to improve your pelvic floor strength? This combined with the right cup could help you out.

Why you expelled 2 IUDs and why tampons fall out are two completely different reasons. They go in two different organs.

As suggested, the reasons tampons fall out are probably (childbearing-related) poor muscle tone and prolapse. Get into a good Kegel routine and add both lower abdominal crunches and squats for your butt muscles because they all work together. Mention this to your Dr if things don't improve after exercise.

As for Kegel exercises, there are many different kegel tools. Some are hands-on and require interaction -- such as wands or tethered "orgasm balls" or gizmos that look kinda like speculums. My favorite tool is just plain Ben Wa Balls. Start with ones that are about 1" and 3/4oz apiece and then graduate to those that are appx 3/4" and 1oz apiece. The idea is to insert them and keep them in while you walk around, do the dishes, etc. Start with 20 minutes a day and build from there. The longer you keep them in, they harder they'll be to keep them inside. That's what's working your PCs -- hands free, no interaction required. Do this at home. Be sure to remember to remove them (relax, cough and catch) before going out or using the toilet.

Since you've had a child and your muscles seem to be somewhat out of shape, you'll definitely need a larger size to help it stay in place, but ultimately it's your flesh forming a light seal around the cup that holds it in place. So you'll still need to regain some muscle tone, which is always good in order to prevent future incontinence issues. Wow I never thought that the reason could be that my pelvic floor muscles are out of shape. That makes perfect sense though. I will definitely work on that. Thanks ladies!
