My partner and I love to have sex everyday we can, even when I'm on my periods but he isn't a huge fun of blood. I've been using soft tampons for the last two years to avoid messy sex but I feel terribly bad when I throw them away after a couple of hours. I don't find myself comfortable boiling and drying them to reuse (as some people do with no mayor issues) because I'm afraid bacteria would grow on them. So I've been thinking about getting a pack of Instead softcups and use them as long as they last (washing them properly) to have sex during my periods. My only concern is that they would be more uncomfortable for me and my during intercourse and that they would be noticed by my partners penis. I'm not worried about insertion/removal because I'm a MeLuna user and I guess it wouldn't cause me any trouble even though they fit differently.
I would like to know if any of you have used both products and could tell me their experiences, preferences...
Thank you,

When I used tampons, we had sex with a tampon in a few times; it was okay. Before cutting the stem off my fleurcup, the stem would sometimes poke him uncomfortably. Since cutting the stem off, we have had no issues just keeping my fleurcup in. I do try to make sure it is not full beforehand.

You could also try sponge tampons, they seem to be as popular as the Instead Softcups during sex

I think that's what is called 'soft tampons'.

Yes, I called soft tampon any sponge (natural or artificial)that you use to mainly block and also absorb your flow.

ah ok, I thought you meant just the gynotex or joydivision ones

I've had sex with a cisman using my Lunette small (with a slightly trimmed but still present stem) in. One guy only notice when he had his fingers in me. No one notice during sex.

I've used both, and been happy with the insteads for period sex.

I will tell you this...I currently have many more insteads than I can ever possibly use...I keep buying another box when I'm on vacation, etc. I would be happy to send you a mostly-full box (they are individually wrapped) just for the cost of postage, if you want to try them out?

Send me an email at my LJ name at gmail.com if you are interested.

I've found that when using a cup there isn't as much 'mess' as when using pads or tampons because there is no blood on the vaginal walls to get everywhere.

I usually put a towel down, go and empty my cup then have some tissue ready for straight afterwards and then go and put my cup back in. I have a heavy flow and the mess was very minimal, nothing on my boyfriend. :)

wow amazing that so many people manage this... I have such bad cramps during periods I can hardly walk much less consider sex....

However I would say the instead cups work well (i have a small stash of them) and even a soft meluna cup... especially the kind with no stem. Very soft and smooth.

My cervix is kinda low during my period and the stem sticks out a little bit during my period, so I can't imagine having sex during my period because of those two facts. If my cervix was higher then I'd consider it...

I'd say Insteads may be best :)

Sorry that wasn't very helpful but just wanted to add my 2cents.
