So I am so excited to own a menstrual cup and have used it a few times successfully, but I just tried using it today after not having used it for the past two months and I felt the need to whinge.
Without fail every time I use it, hymenal tissue/skin around the entrance to my vagina gets pinched and it fucking hurts. This happens on insertion and removal. This makes me annoyed because I now dread inserting it because when I'm feeling sick, am in pain and am irritable the last this I feel like doing is pinching my delicate hymenal tissue. I also resent the feeling of the cup opening up inside me. Not welcome in a nonsexual scenario.
P.S. I have been sexually active for ten years, so I do not have an intact hymen. The skin there is not an issue in any other circumstance.

Hum have you tried cutting your nails short or most importantly, angling them towards the cup, not your bits..? For the feeling of the cup opening... idk, my cups are pretty soft, so I'm glad they actually open up... maybe stiffness is your issue ?

Yes my nails are short, and yes I locate the stem and then slide my finger along it to find the base of the cup, which often involves getting delicate skin stuck between the cup and my finger or under my nail or just prodded in general. And I get stressed when the cup isn't open properly. I just mean that initial insert and then feeling it pop open makes me feel sick when I'm already feeling sick. It opens up lower in my vagina because I can't get it up very far before it opens. And that's my g spot. And it isn't a great feeling.

I just understood what you meant about angling the nails toward the cup. I will try that, I hadn't thought of it.

I find that lots of lube on myself for insertion (and sometimes removal if I'm dry/nervous etc) really really helps with chafing/scraping/nicking myself. I have quite long nails and find that with lube and keeping the nail edge against the cup I don't nick myself. also going very slowly and gently helps, as you can pause and re-adjust/re-angle your finger if need be :)
