I was skimming through my Cosmo this month and noticed that little tidbit, even though most cup companies don't advise sex with the cup.  Cosmo mentioned viewers look at the Lunette for more information.  Still probably not the best idea to do it with the cup in you.  Unless your flow is light or you are well prepared for leaks.  Thoughts?

My partner and I have tried it, once and not for all that long, with a Femmecup. It worked okay, there was some leakage, he had to be pretty gentle. It wasn't uncomfortable for either of us.

I still don't know if it was a good idea, but there were no explosions or black holes opening up or anything.

I've had sex with my small Lunette and had no problems for myself or my penis-having partners.

My husband found the stem of my Fleurcup a little pokey, but I plan on trimming it off anyway. We were camping and I emptied it just before dark. I didn't have any leakage, but the squelchy feeling took some getting used to.

I think I have found the article http://www.cosmopolitan.com/sex-love/advice/menstruation-affect-sex-drive
My question is why would you need anything in place, why not just remove the cup? If it's about avoiding mess then you could just put a towel down or have sex in the shower?

My thoughts exactly.

My bf almost passed out once because my period started while we were having sex and a drop of blood got on him (he's ridiculously squeamish about blood in general).

Guys are ridiculous.. Many ppl find menstruation sexy. I agree with *Femininewear, I take it out. I dont see how it's possible to do it while wearing it, most of us have a 5cm deep cervix on our period. I know it stretches out but isnt it uncomfortable? And even if it isnt, which i doubt, is it worth the risk?
Arrow_Bright: Green Gablesarrow_bright on September 6th, 2012 05:46 pm (UTC)
I think with him it's just a general blood phobia, though he has gotten better about it, especially since my period's 7 days long, lol. The only time we had sex when it was in was on a light, high-cervix day with a short cup (small Lunette). I left it in out of laziness. For reference, my cervix is typically 3.5-4" high on those days, and probably much higher when aroused. I didn't notice it at all, and he said he only noticed the stem poking him a bit, which he said he probably wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't told him about the cup.
greanfreekgreanfreek on September 7th, 2012 01:57 am (UTC)
I guess i'll try it. Will be hard tho, trying to keep it from him.. Hes kinda old fashioned. I hope it works (8 day period, extremely horny lol)

How do I always manage to get so off topic?
m03m on August 19th, 2012 07:10 pm (UTC)
Don't they mean Softcups?
greanfreekgreanfreek on September 6th, 2012 12:16 pm (UTC)
Right? I remember reading so somewhere over the net. But it seems our fellow cuppers got creative. Unbelievable...
m03m on September 6th, 2012 12:22 pm (UTC)
How so? It wouldn't fit in my case, but if it does, more power to them...
greanfreekgreanfreek on September 6th, 2012 12:34 pm (UTC)
Exactly. Thats why im saying they got creative.. I dont think i would be able to fit it either (hope thats what you meant :p) Maybe I would've tried it with a 3 inch dude, but it's too late for that, I married a hispanic!

I don't know about everyone else, but it wouldn't be physically possible for me to have sex with my cup in place. There's just no room, even with a small cup. For me, the stem protrudes slightly from my opening. Awesome for those that can, though! It'd save you the few moments of 'de-cupping' (as we fondly call it), and allow you to get down to business sooner! ;)

Well, it is a well-known fact that the vagina increases in length and basically grows pretty much like a penis with arousal, therefore making sex possible, even for low-cervixed folks.

That said, I haven't tried with my cups either, because they are fairly long for my un-aroused vagina, plus I'd be afraid my partner would get poked by the stem (or the pointy end of a Lunette, even with no stem, that surely wouldn't be nice !). Actually, we've had non-PIV sexy times with a cup in a couple times, and feeling the stem near the entrance kinda ruined the mood slightly for him, so there's that to consider. I guess my bf is actually less grossed out by a little menstrual blood. I think Softcup, a cervical cap (or possibly a Mini Meluna small, ball stem ??) would be best suited.

Edited for spelling.

Perhaps for some it's possible, but not for me, aroused or not. I wish it was!!

I don't know. I've tried it (more like forgot I had it in and had sex) with two partners. With the smaller partner it caused leaking in the form of a small tidewave and rubbing against the silicone caused a sore spot on him. With the larger partner he got stabbed with the stem of my diva cup and that ended things pretty quickly.

I only think it would be very feasible with a very light flow, as in no-mess-on-bed light, and why bother with a cup if it's that light.
greanfreekgreanfreek on September 6th, 2012 12:20 pm (UTC)
Lol poor dudes xD so ur saying cups work as anti-rape devices as well?
Ashatenlegspider on August 20th, 2012 02:38 pm (UTC)
I did it accidentally once. I'm a light enough bleeder that period sex isn't particularly messy, but there was still a streak. It's also been suggested here that it's not really safe with a condom because of the extra friction and potentially some edges.

RDG: Prince duckierubberduckgrrl on August 20th, 2012 08:20 pm (UTC)
I've done it with an Instead inserted... but never again. There just isn't enough room and it wasn't completely enjoyable.
Mandapriemoerunamida on August 21st, 2012 12:54 pm (UTC)
I had 'cup sex' by accident twice where I forgot to remove my cup before romping around. Neither I or my husband noticed. I was on birth control the first time, so I was just like 'Well, okay!" Second time, I was freaking out thinking it might have ripped the condom.

Do I recommend it? Absolutely not. All I see happening is the cup getting pushed high up on a shelf that is difficult to reach. I'm just lucky that it didn't happen either time with me. Takes two seconds to take the cup out. :)
gigglesmcbug on August 29th, 2012 09:36 pm (UTC)
I've masturbated with a dildo with my cup in and it was fine. I hardly noticed it. I've never had penis/vagina sex with it in, but I suspect it suspect the penis owner would notice cause I have a short vagina.
okwaho_okaraokwaho_okara on September 6th, 2012 03:51 am (UTC)
No room in me either once the cup is in. It's ok tho -- he'a not into doing it while I'm having my period and neither am I, so it's all good.
mommy2boox2 on September 10th, 2012 04:12 am (UTC)
I have a large very stemless Lunette and a large stemless/filed down rings Fleur. There's no way that I could have sex with the Lunette in place, the end is just too rigid.

HOWEVER... It is possible to have gentle sex with a Fleur in place that has had the stem cut off and the rings filed down as it has a differently shaped (bell shaped) end. It sort of squishes up just a little bit and is (was for me anyway) pretty penis friendly. Mine was fairly full and it didn't leak, but with any more rigor we would've had a mess. It really surprised both of us! And the ole vag definitely elongated as my well endowed fella was able to get 2/3rds in and I have a looowwww cervix/short vagina.

:) Happy cupping!
dirfa on September 12th, 2012 07:06 pm (UTC)
I have a pretty low cervix, but I've had sex with my small meluna (ring stem) a number of times without any problems, no leakage at all and my bf can't feel it even if he tries to. He won't have sex during my period without the cup - and since I'm always most horny during my period, I was really happy when I found out it was possible. If it feels ok, it probably is. We usually take it a bit more careful though. One time it hurt, it probably bumped into my cervix, and then we stopped. A funny thing is that according to my partner I taste very different down there when I have the cup in!

When it comes to the history of contraceptives, people have been putting everything from empty turtle shells to elephant poo up there... Not that the cup works as a contraceptive, I just mean that putting something "in between" is really nothing new. ;)

My cup usually sits quite high up after sex, but if I wait half an hour or so, it usually comes back down (probably together with my cervix). And even if it sits high, I can still reach it if I want to.
Taffyprincesstaffy on September 13th, 2012 05:06 am (UTC)
I've done it, and more than a few times. My bf doesn't mind it at all. it's a small divacup. doesn't really leak and no jabbing or poking or anything.
