This past spring, I bought my first menstrual cup, a lunette. After the initial learning curve, I'm really happy with it, but there's one problem that's been bothering me.

It burns to use the bathroom after I remove and then re-insert it. I cut the stem completely off because it stuck out and was bothering me and I thought maybe it was irritating things or something, but I'm still having the same problem. It burns only if I use the bathroom right after inserting and removing the cup, not after a few hours or even minutes.

Am I doing something wrong? I'm trying to be gentle and literally I push it in, make sure it's sealed and then leave it alone but I don't get why this is happening. I avoid brushing against the area. I know I clench my muscles a bit too much but I've been working on relaxing them.

Any suggestions as to why this is happening? I really don't want to damage myself or have to stop using it!

Hum, what comes to my mind is do you make sure to rinse the soap off really well from your hands/the cup ? if so, then maybe you're irritating yourself slightly, so take it slow and maybe use some lube on yourself for insertion and removal.
