Hi, I'm new here... My name is Brenda and I'm 16 years old. I'm on my 2nd cycle using the DivaCup and it's pretty much awesome... it doesn't hurt, and I got past the learning curve pretty quick. But for the past couple of days (this didn't happen on my other cycle) the cup has been leaking, and when I take it out, it's not even halfway full. It happens every 4-5 hours. So I did a little (actually a lot :P) of research and found that my cervix is probably taking up room in the cup, causing it to become less capacious and leak. Any suggestions for what to do? I've heard to turn it inside-out a lot, but that doesn't seem like that would fix MY problem. I use the punch-down fold. I am thinking that I should let it pop open as soon as the rim is inside, then just coax it in a lower than usual? Because usually I put it in pretty deep... and that is probably the problem. And I don't really want to buy anther cup, I really like this one other than this problem and I spent almost $40 on this one.You ladies are the experts here, what do you think? <3

Hi there ! :)

First, the mods will probably come and tell you that not everyone here identifies as a "lady", so might want to edit your post to make it gender-neutral.

Second, I guess you could try postioning the cup lower, and it might work, but there's no guarantee it'll agree to stay there, because cups ride as high as they please. It does sound like it is overflowing, so there's not much else you can do, other than empty every 4 hours or wear a pad as back-up. Flipping the cup inside out will make it a good deal shorter and most likely, it'll be able to ride higher (and become harder to reach). It will, however, get rid of the pointy bottom, where there is the least capacity, but I doubt this will actually increase your overall capacity. A shorter, wider, bell-shaped cup is probably the only way to increase capacity. Fyi, you can get a brand new Meluna from $22 and a Fleurcup for $26, including shipping. And there's a community on LJ for selling and buying 2nd hand cups.

I agree with the previous poster- a wider cup would be a better option for you.

If you check mc_sales there are a couple of Fleurcups going very cheap at the moment. You can always sell your Diva and and recoup some of your money that way. You want to get a cup that fits you properly.

http://prntscr.com/cj4pk (i don't mind it but i can see why others might)

yeah, my cups also overflow before they're even half-full...fortunately that's not a problem for me. there's no need to let it open as soon as the rim is inside, i do that because my cervix is REALLY low. there's no way i could use a diva even inside out.

are you doing anything differently this cycle? or did you just reinsert it more often last time as you weren't sure how long it would last you?

mod note
Hi brenda_dan17! It would be greatly appreciated if you could edit your post to remove the gendered language. We explain why in this post.
