I've been stalking this community for a while but this is my first time posting :) I apologize if this shows up wrong or something...
I got a small size Diva a few months ago. 14 year old virgin. Everything's going fine except for one problem. I really couldn't find another post that answered my question. Whenever I insert my cup it's all good, seems to be sealed and all popped open. Nothing but punch down really works for me. But within five minutes I usually feel a weird punching thing, really more surprising than painful though. It works fine before and after this happens and I've never had any leaks, so I'm not sure if it's just popping itself to the right spot or something. A few times this hasn't happened, and I really can't figure out what I did differently. Is it because it's too big for me? I'm about 2&3/4-3 inches to my cervix. I've been looking at Ladycups and Lunettes. My mom got me my Diva and I asked her for another, but she said it wasn't necessary. (I don't think she gets really how much bigger it is) What do you think is the problem here?

That happened a few times with my Lunette at first, too. It's kind of like being punched from the inside out! I think it just means that it wasn't fully open. Some people do a little dance to get it to pop open right after they put it in, but now I just slide a finger around the cup when it's in to check for dents and give it a half-turn or so. If the Diva is comfortable for you, I wouldn't go for another cup.

The Lunette small was my first cup, but I'm actually happier with the LadyCup small. The LadyCup's rim is a little firmer than the Lunette, so I don't have to check or turn the cup to make sure it's popped open; it pops open as soon as I let go.

Diva Cup, popping open issue
I am having a similar issue. I can insert easily, but am struggling terribly with getting it to open up once inside. The instructions say to rotate or spin it, but it won't do that. Sometimes I can push it up as far as I can & then bear down as I pull it down & that will work, but it doesn't always work & I can't always stay in the bathroom for 20 plus minutes fighting with my cup. I've only gone through one period using it, but I saw no improvement during those days. Can anyone help??

It is just because the cup wasn't fully opened. No worries! I am a little older than you and this happened to me the first few times. Personally, if you think about how you inserted (punch down), it would make sense for it to pop open like it does. I use punch down as well! Try the punch down in your hand and watch it open: It kind of has to pop sometimes to open fully. Mine no longer does this, I don't know why though. I've learned to not shove it up so high and then release. Now I hold on to the bottom and insert half way then push it up the rest. This tends to stop the popping in my opinion. FYI, I use a small ladycup but I also have the same size divacup. I like my ladycup better just because I am super short in my vagina but the diva is easier to remove. Try explaining cup sizes to your mom and showing her a sizing chart to help her understand!
